Good idea but failed to wow me
Revisado: 04-22-25
Curse of Shadows and Thorns is a beautifully atmospheric fantasy romance with lush writing and a moody, fairytale vibe. The worldbuilding is immersive, the magic intriguing, and the enemies-to-lovers tension delivers just enough angst to keep you turning pages.
That said, the pacing can feel uneven, especially in the middle, and some of the character motivations felt a bit murky or inconsistent. I wanted a bit more depth from the love interest and found myself wishing for stronger emotional payoffs in key scenes.
Still, if you’re a fan of brooding fae princes, curses, and slow-burn romance with a touch of danger, this is a solid read that sets up the rest of the series well. Not perfect, but definitely enjoyable and worth continuing.

Historia
My father sold me to the Shadow King. Faerie is a completely different world than the one I'm used to. Winged creatures fly in and out of mirrors, and fantastical gardens conceal treacherous illusions. Shadows draw me in a little more for each day my magic grows, but I can't afford to let my guard down. To survive, I must play by the king's rules and protect myself from the nightmares, dreams, and fantasies that govern his seductive realm. Most of all, I must resist him. If I don't, my kingdom will fall.

Gripping read once it gets going
Revisado: 04-21-25
Honestly, the only reason I picked up Deal with the Shadow King was because Anthony Palmini was reading it—swoon—and I regret nothing. That voice? Instantly hooked. But what surprised me was how much I ended up loving the entire story. Lilly Drake was just as amazing—her performance brought so much depth and emotion to the characters. The narration duo was perfection.
The beginning was a little slow and I found myself a bit confused, but once Anya J. Cosgrove’s world started to take shape, I couldn’t stop listening. The story draws you in little by little, and then—BAM—two major plot twists. One I kind of saw coming (and it was so satisfying), but the other totally blindsided me in the best way. Mind. Blown.
This audiobook was such a pleasant surprise, and I’ll definitely be diving into the next one! (Hopefully on ikiaudible premium soon!)

Historia
Twenty-four-year-old Saeris Fane is good at keeping secrets. No one knows about the strange powers she possesses or the fact that she has been picking pockets and stealing from the Undying Queen's reservoirs for as long as she can remember. But a secret is like a knot. Sooner or later, it is bound to come undone. When Saeris comes face-to-face with Death himself, she inadvertently reopens a gateway between realms and is transported to a land of ice and snow. The Fae have always been the stuff of myth, of legend, of nightmares… but it turns out they're real.

Storyline I haven’t heard before
Revisado: 04-01-25
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Quicksilver had a bit of a slow start for me, and the way the story jumped around in the beginning made it a little hard to follow at first. But once it found its rhythm—wow. The tension, the chemistry, the twists—I was completely hooked! And that cliffhanger at the end?! Ahhh, I need book 2 now! Callie Hart definitely knows how to keep you on edge and desperate for more.
