Very confusing
Revisado: 03-25-25
It finished without explaining what exactly happened. All through the story I was waiting for the premise of the book. Still confused.

Historia
Pain, horror, fear - these are the things that have comprised best-selling novelist Lance Metzger's life. His childhood remains a riddled wasteland of abuse by a sadistic father and abandonment by an apathetic mother. In turn his only refuge became his writing. When Lance loses his ability to write and becomes haunted by a nightmare that he'd thought was buried, he is drawn inexplicably to a house on the shores of Lake Superior, where he finds his muse once again - but something is waiting for him when he arrives.

Hard to get through first chapter
Revisado: 05-19-23
I decided to read this book because of the reviews that other people left. I did not like the first chapter because it was very descriptive and depressing. The author is very animated and it times makes you feel somethings about to happen when it doesn’t. When I got to the climax of the book, it went on too long, and I found myself getting bored and just wishing it would end.

Historia
Years ago, the SS Arcadia vanished without a trace during a routine voyage. Though a garbled emergency message was broadcast, neither the ship nor any of its crew could be found. Sixty years later, its wreck has finally been discovered more than 300 miles from its intended course...a silent graveyard deep beneath the ocean's surface. Cove and her dive team have been granted permission to explore the Arcadia's rusting hull. Their purpose is straightforward: examine the wreck, film everything, and, if possible, uncover how and why the supposedly unsinkable ship vanished.

Could have been shorter
Revisado: 04-14-23
I love the author but i had a hard time staying with this one. The story line was interesting enough however in parts it was dragged out and i found myself becoming bored with the story. The narration was very good and that is what kept me going until the end.

Not Scary but entertaining
Revisado: 01-19-23
The narrator did a great job with all the voices, because there were a lot of family members, and you were able to keep them straight through the voices. I was expecting a ghost story, but found it to be more entertaining than scary.

Started to lose me
Revisado: 11-02-22
The story line was okay but it dragged a little in the middle and I almost moved onto my next book. It finally picked up and I was able to finish it but I think that the narration didn’t help. I could not connect with the narrator. All in all it was an okay story.

Historia
Alex, a single mother-of-two, is determined to make a fresh start for her and her children. In an effort to escape her troubled past, she seeks refuge in a rural community. Pine Ridge is idyllic; the surrounding forests are beautiful and the locals welcoming. Mostly. But Alex finds that she may have disturbed barely hidden secrets in her new home. As a chain of bizarre events is set off, events eerily familiar to those who have lived there for years, Alex realizes that she and her family might be in greater danger than ever before.

This book started off strong and kept me interested all the way through. A few twists that I didn’t see coming also helped with the appreciation of the book. The narrator was very good and had a pleasant voice.

Leigh Harker’s quiet suburban home was her sanctuary for more than a decade, until things abruptly changed. Curtains open by themselves. Radios turn off and on. And a dark figure looms in the shadows of her bedroom door at night, watching her, waiting for her to finally let down her guard enough to fall asleep.

Way too many metaphors
Revisado: 11-03-21
The story line was very good however I almost gave up on it a couple of times as it dragged in too many places and it was filled in with so many metaphors and unnecessary descriptions. Overall I am glad I stuck with it as was good with a surprising end.

I cannot endorse this book as it was so disturbing. Without giving it away babies and animals were hurt and I am just not into reading stuff like that. It also was all over the place and confusing. Thumbs down on this book.
