Historia
On April 16, 1963, as the violent events of the Birmingham campaign unfolded in the city's streets, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., composed a letter from his prison cell in response to local religious leaders' criticism of the campaign. The resulting piece of extraordinary protest writing, "Letter from Birmingham Jail", was widely circulated and published in numerous periodicals. After the conclusion of the campaign and the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom in 1963, King further developed the ideas introduced in the letter in Why We Can't Wait.

A Must Read

I wish this was required reading in school. This book is still so relevant and it brought me to tears throughout. The narrator was perfect and his delivery was exceptional. <3
Highly recommend!

Historia
We’ve been looking at perfectionism all wrong. As psychotherapist and former on-site therapist at Google Katherine Morgan Schafler argues in The Perfectionist's Guide to Losing Control, you don’t have to stop being a perfectionist to be healthy. For women who are sick of being given the generic advice to “find balance,” a new approach has arrived.

Eye-opening!

I came across this audiobook by accident and I am SO glad I did. The subtitle is what got my attention and made me curious to pull up the title details.
There were many times while listening to this audiobook where I would freeze--to stop whatever I was doing and just listen--because what was being said truly hit me with full force realization. I had never considered myself a perfectionist, yet so many of the qualities described and mentioned felt like the author was in my head. I am aware of some of my habits, thoughts, and feelings, but didn't know why I had them. (i.e. I joke about not knowing how to relax and do nothing. Or feeling like my constant want to strive, the ambition, is a blessing and a curse.)
The content of this book was beyond insightful and helpful, easy to understand, pleasant to listen to, and had me in tears at times (good tears/feeling understood or seen). I really needed this book right now and I will be picking up a hard copy at my local bookshop asap. I would absolutely recommend this to anyone who catches themselves feeling like they have to always be reaching for that next [unattainable] goal, or forgetting to celebrate or acknowledge the accomplishments they've already made (big and small), or feeling like the off-switch no longer works.

Historia
In a field of PhDs, Tim Samaras didn’t attend a day of college in his life. He chased storms with brilliant tools of his own invention and pushed closer to the tornado than anyone else ever dared. When he achieved what meteorologists had deemed impossible, it was as if he had snatched the fire of the gods. Yet even as he transformed the field, Samaras kept on pushing.

I vividly remember the tornado outbreaks of 2011 and 2013, and it's hard to believe it's been 10yrs since the monster El Reno tornado. This book was an amazing insight to Tim Samaras' life. The descriptive story telling, direct quotes, and the tie-ins with other storm chasers that Tim interacted with (and the storms they chased) was as much a treat as it was tragic (even though you knew what was coming towards the end). Highly recommend to severe weather enthusiasts.
