The heart and soul of our nation
Revisado: 05-29-21
This book I did not expect at this moment.
It is so poignant and powerful.
I laughed so hard at time I completely burst and sometimes I cried as I entered worlds I had never seen.
It is both strategic, tactical, analytical and even synthetic. Elizabeth Warren is a very brilliant successor to the Whiz Kids of the Kennedy administration. This book helped me a great deal both within and without.
Thank you Senator Warren for the sunshine that you have warmed my life with.

Historia
Drawing on a wealth of psychological research, Alfie Kohn points the way to a more successful strategy based on working with people instead of doing things to them. "Do rewards motivate people?" asks Kohn. "Yes. They motivate people to get rewards." Seasoned with humor and familiar examples, Punished by Rewards presents an argument unsettling to hear but impossible to dismiss.

A cosmological drama of how we make ourselves unhappy and unproductive
Revisado: 08-21-20
This book gives everything you need to deindustrialize your mind. Our attempts to “motivate” one another are doomed to fail and are a great source of unhappiness. If you would like to be more supportive of others, less toxic and learn why many of our most common assumptions hurt us and those around us, this book may change your life.
Alfie Kohn’s reading shows tremendous experience and creativity as he navigates things which for many of us come near our innermost wounds.
I had heard about how incentives can’t make things right, before reading this. After reading this though, I understand why to such a greater degree that I am no longer repeating certain mistakes that made my life worse.
I find my relationships are becoming much deeper and more satisfying because I’m being more supportive and less forced. This even includes with my parents who I’m finding new progress with each week and day.
As a teacher, I’m being both more supportive and helping my students pursue their own genius more effectively.

Historia
This audiobook offers to solve the UK productivity conundrum and dramatically improve health and care services while reducing their cost and much more, besides. And it is no promise or dream. It is evidenced by those who have followed John's prescription, which is to change the way they think about management. Beyond Command and Control exposes the fallacies in command and control management, and they are not what people expect them to be.

The deep social change we all thirst for
Revisado: 07-19-20
In some future time when humans are finally able to get along with each other, we will look back. This book will be viewed as one of the milestones of change. A pithy invitation into the incredible world that could heal us beyond imagination. Beyond Command and Control is so well designed. Over and over again in reading it, I find references that are invaluable and incredibly powerful: often shared in less than a sentence. I've read a number of John's books: Beyond Command and Control is not only wise and succinct, but with each reading I learn so much.
The audio book would not be complete with out John's awakening voice which cuts through here more than in any other context I've ever heard him speak. His empathetic and outraged leadership is astonishingly refreshing in such a dark time.
If you are serious about making the world a better place to live in, this is a great place to start.
