The professor is ideological

Coming off the Rise and Fall of the British Empire, I was taken aback by the ideological presentation of this professor. He uses emotional language and loaded words.. lots of "so-called's" and would say who and who wasn't nasty. it isn't your job to provide emotional context especially considering how hyperboles academia has become. He was obviously narrative bending. He also had a very Ben Steinesque delivery. He also completely ignores Alexander Solzhenitsyn.

Woke subtext, cringe ending

I'd picked up some woke subtext through the series but it came out to shine in this book. The writing at the end was like a cavalcade of smiles like it was the intro to a 90s sitcom.

I really enjoyed this. it's a great set up for continuing the story via Phillip.. sadly it from the description this will be the last of Team Corey's stories in this universe.

Slow build up, fun final battle.

It does build up slow, but the final battle is fun. It has a cliff hanger ending from a new development and not a lingering plot line that will, infact, cause me to get the next book. This is on the hope there are more battles like the climax of this book.

Put SG1's Jack O'Neil in a setting with Skippy from Expeditionary Force.. I do have to say the president nemesis was so over the top I had to speed up the audio book to get past his megalomaniac rants and standard cheap "make southerners evil" habit most modern authors have to do to get published.. the rest of it was great.

The funnest Ian Douglas book I've ever read!

Ian Douglas usually writes hard science fiction. This book was delightful treat that unites all of the UFO conspiracy theories into one neat and believable narrative. I imagine he had a lot of fun writing thus novel. It is very out of character for an author that spins great stories out of eccentricities of physics.. to see his science oriented brain put to task knitting all the UFO lore (yes, apparently there is lore) into a serious story.. well.. it was a delight to read and I even think the narrator enjoyed it.

Trouble on Paradise is a novella yeah in dx4 universe that does a really great job with character development for future novels in the series
