A bit frustrating.
Revisado: 06-15-21
Overall, I enjoyed the book but it was tedious and frustrating at times for Nicolas (the man) to maintain all the power and the women around him to make one poor decision after the other. I know it’s a novel about domestic abuse but….I thought these otherwise intelligent women made overly stupid mistakes. Narration was great!

Historia
If anyone could be considered a Russian counterpart to the infamous British double-agent Kim Philby, it was Oleg Gordievsky. The son of two KGB agents and the product of the best Soviet institutions, the savvy, sophisticated Gordievsky grew to see his nation's communism as both criminal and philistine. He took his first posting for Russian intelligence in 1968 and eventually became the Soviet Union's top man in London, but from 1973 on he was secretly working for MI6.

Compelling and thoroughly entertaining true story - I couldn’t put it down. James Bond has nothing on Oleg.

Historia
Born to survivalists in the mountains of Idaho, Tara Westover was seventeen the first time she set foot in a classroom. Her family was so isolated from mainstream society that there was no one to ensure the children received an education, and no one to intervene when one of Tara’s older brothers became violent. When another brother got himself into college, Tara decided to try a new kind of life. Her quest for knowledge transformed her, taking her over oceans and across continents, to Harvard and to Cambridge University.

Excellent read...

- more than entertaining and interesting. It was shocking, sad, enlightening, and amusing. It is a story of slowly awakening to her own power and being okay with who she is despite the harsh criticism of some family members. I feel that Dr. Westover (Tara) has lived on the extreme edges of life, from one end to the other, and I’ve, by comparison, lived in the middle. I always enjoy discovering how others live and what they believe. I recommend the book.

Historia
Even from the perspective of time, it is nearly impossible to grasp the full contribution made to music by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart in his brief and glorious life. He composed his first symphony at the age of 8 and reached full artistic maturity by the time he was only 20. And when he died at the age of 35, he left a legacy of more than 600 works of brilliance - symphonies, chamber music, operas, and more - most composed during an incredibly productive 20-year period.

Great Masters: Mozart - His Life and Music was entertaining and enlightening. I loved hearing the musical pieces interwoven with the biography and with the author's personal interpretations. Enjoyed every minute of it.
