Historia
In January 2007 the young and optimistic soldiers of the 2-16, the American infantry battalion known as the Rangers, were sent to Iraq as part of the surge. Their job would be to patrol one of the most dangerous areas of Baghdad. For 15 months, Pulitzer Prize-winning reporter David Finkel was with them, following them almost every grueling step of the way. The resulting account of that time, The Good Soldiers, is a searing, shattering portrait of the face of modern war.

Close to the best audiobook I have listened too. Graphic descriptions of the war, of the effects on those who took part, on their families and friends. Gives an honest and at times gut wrenching look at what the newspaper and tv media do not report on. The narrator is also to be complimented on his delivery. David Finkel, thank you for this up close insight into "the surge"

This is my second review on a John Grisham book and seriously this is almost kindergarten stuff. Boring, sentimental rubbish. Nothing like pumping out a book that barely rises above mediocre. Dont bother wasting a credit on this one.

Revisado: 11-13-10
What a wonderful narrator, maybe not the BEST politician but certainly the BEST of his time. An insightful book, humour, sadness and at times a brief look into the soul of probably the best British prime minister for a long time. His voice has that magic quality that makes you want more. His explanation of events at times will make you wonder but hey after all he is just another fallible human being. Well worth the listen and a pity it was abridged.

Authors Best ?
Revisado: 06-10-09
Listening to this brought back a lot of memories of reading this book more than 20 years ago. The production by a multi cast is great because each character is well and truly brought to life. The important thing though is the plot and how it progresses. Having read all of Stephen Coonts novels in my humble opinion this is his best. The descriptions of flying in the "intruder" seemed so real that if you shut your eyes you could imagine yourself being there. A very believable and at times thought provoking production.

Having read all of John Grisham books I looked forward with anticipation to listening to one. What a light weight book this is. It would seem that maybe John Grisham is turning out too many books and is turning simple ideas into long drawn out melodramas.
Don't bother.

This is the first Michael Robotham book I have listened too, this after reading Bombproof.
This book holds you in suspense until the end. Fast paced with characters fleshed out so they become almost real. The reader Crispin Redman deserves a lot of praise for his portrayal of the various characters in the book and in no small way adds to the listening pleasure. Well worth the purchase.

Fascinating detailed account
Revisado: 04-21-09
Anyone interested in Vietnam, the good, bad & ugly should listen to this Australian perspective. If it has a fault it lies in that not a lot of attention is given to the Air Force & Navy roles in this conflict, but the detail on the Army role is exceptional. There are passages that will make you both laugh and cry but most importantly will give you a birds eye view of the Australian Forces role in this conflict. Well worth the listen.

Typical Archer. An absolutely boring existence behind bars brought to life by this fantastic storyteller. Please give us volumes 2 & 3.
