Evil is a sneaky thing. It lies in wait for the right situation to breathe life into its black heart. That situation – the catalyst – is sometimes put in motion with specific purpose. Other times the trigger is merely fate.

In the Covenant of Wickersham Hollow, destiny spurs the characters down a path that will forever scar their lives. We, as listeners, go along for the journey as the story weaves in and out of the past, where a mystery steeped in horror unfolds layer by layer.

Stephen Bungay is a talented narrator. His performance brought the entire story – setting, action, and characterization – into deep focus. I had no problem envisioning the scenes or recognizing which characters were speaking. Well done!

I read the ebook of Survival and liked it so much that I bought the audiobook. The action in this story is non-stop; it has the right amount of graphic violence to make a horrifying situation seem real without being over the top. As the ravenous, walking dead grow in number, we get a good look at the characters' fears and hopes while fighting for survival. The only thing I'd like to see added to the story is a bit more depth in overall character development.

Lisa Wiley delivers an awesome vocal performance in making the characters and action spring to vivid life!

Perfect Story for Christmas!

Listening to this story reminded me of what I love most about the Christmas season, a time of year when life seems to slow long enough for us to focus on what's really important - family, friends, and just being content with small blessings.

In The Gift, a father discovers his own Christmas blessings when he's left to deal with the season's preparations while tending to his young daughter. It's an endearing story that strikes a chord of familiarity and brings a smile.

The narrator's voice is crisp and clear, almost with an announcer-type quality, but we should be better able to distinguish the young girl's voice from the father's narrative and dialogue. I think this kind of added emphasis on characterization would benefit the audio version.

I received a free copy of this audiobook and have voluntarily posted this review.
