In the harsher dark fantasy world of M/f BDSM literature, there are few standout names. The genre tends to be more “a billionaire likes to spank me!” fluff written by and for women. But there ARE those of us who are more STORY OF O than we are 50 SHADES. These are the non-consensual, NSFW tales of true power, animal urges and unbridled lust. Enter Commander James Bondage.

In his latest, he draws upon his formal education in world history as he crafts a surprisingly worldly and three dimensional tableau in old China. In the same vein as the BDSM sub-genre of Oriental harems and kidnapped slave-girls, CJB steeps his tale in more historical accuracy and atmosphere than one might expect for this sort of fiction.

The tale begins with the Duke of Yu falling into dire financial straits as his penchant for lovely wives and the cost of housing them threatens to bankrupt his demesne. So many wives yields dozens of children, but alas! All girls! However shall he pay the dowries? The girls are trained in the arts of love, and so ensnare many a husband, but the youngest and loveliest daughter of all, Bo Lien, wants only to study and learn, and so foreswears all men and cloisters herself away in her rooms.

And it is only she who catches the fancy of the Duke’s most powerful creditor, the money lender Zhao Hua. Coercing the Duke into delivering her into his hands despite her wishes, Zhou quickly introduces his new bride into the cruel trainings she must undergo to properly serve him. Beginning on the long road back to his estates – and why should a woman travel other than naked and chained? – Bo Lien suffers through whippings, torturous positions, and invasions upon her previously virgin person. Arriving at his dour castle which is firmly equipped with many ingenious devices for securing female compliance as well as Zhou’s other enslaved women, Bo Lien learns under the lash how to serve her master. Can she ever meet her filial duty to obey Zhou perfectly and perhaps even melt the heart of her cruel master?

Highly recommend fantasy for those whose kink is more forced slavery and less safeword negotiation.
