Historia
Persuasion, Jane Austen's last novel, is a tale of love and marriage told with irony and insight. Anne Elliot and Captain Wentworth have met and seperated years before. Their reunion, after the passage or irrecoverable years of their youth, forces a recognition of the false values that drove them apart.

My personal favorite
Revisado: 12-11-22
Jane Austin could write Wall Street advert drivel and I would read it with delight, because of her ability to gently, see and record human nature. Persuasion is thankfully, completely devoid of 21 century sensibility, in that it's about vastly unpopular options such as, forgiveness and understanding and being able to admit when you're wrong.
It's about second chances and humility and listening. All ideas considered virtues in by gone eras, tho' never exercised often enough. Thank you Jane.....

Great story. Hey, it's Zane Grey. Character development and description of beautiful Arizona are definitely up to par; with some truly comical moments thrown into all the drama.
Wonderful narration!

Historia
Jamie MacFarlane has returned a hero from the Great War but with a stubborn chest wound. The government has sent him to their new thermal springs hospital in California "where it was hoped that the brilliant sunshine, the fruits, and the clean air, the eternal summer of a beneficent land" would heal him. But nothing has worked, and with his parents now deceased and no one to care for him, it seems the next step is a camp rife with tuberculosis. Realizing this, Jamie begins his great adventure on foot toward the ocean.

Beautifully Vintage message tale
Revisado: 10-24-22
it's a story, that will, sadly seem too slow to most rushed modern ears. To many that would still listen to the 'all seeing' writing style, it will be morality play that's angering and offensive. To the hand full of us left, it's an honest, experience story of human things that were once valuable to understand: failure, loyalty, forgiveness, sacrifice and redemption. It's lovingly embroidered with word pictures that shows my magnificent home State as it once was.

Not surprised that was written before the 'teens....
In a time before relentless, agenda over shadowed the focus of art for art's sake.
Easily cared about the main characters.
Will seek out other titles by the author.

Solid offering
Revisado: 01-10-21
Easy listen. Laugh out loud funny at times. Target age group will be entertained and hopefully have important values reinforced along the way: friendship, loyalty, patience, not giving up, bravery, focus, believing in yourself...
Also exhibits the rewards of thoughtful, relationship parenting.
Loved the narrator, captured the mood and characterization.

Historia
Have you ever wished you could live in an earlier, more romantic era? Ladies, welcome to the 19th century, where there's arsenic in your face cream, a pot of cold pee sits under your bed, and all of your underwear is crotchless. (Why? Shush, dear. A lady doesn't question.) Unmentionable is your hilarious, scandalously honest (yet never crass) guide to the secrets of Victorian womanhood.
