I listened to the Audible version of The Oxford Tearoom Mysteries, which consisted of a Prequel, Books 1 and 2. All three books were very similar in characters and content. All revolve around the main character, Gemma Rose, her friends and her Tearoom in Oxford, England. They are light listening, cozy mysteries… great for listening while engaged in a boring activity. Also, great buy as you get three mysteries for the price of one!

The audio version of Where the Crawdads Sing , narrated by Casandra Campbell, was deeply moving for me. Author Delia Owens’ rich descriptions brought the North Carolina marshlands and southern culture to life. Those were my favorite parts of the story. The courtroom scenes were interested and related to the story as a whole, but I missed the marshlands, as Kya did. I’m sure I would have enjoyed reading the book, but I loved the audio version and felt Campbell’s narration added a lot to the listening experience. Definitely a good listen!

I loved The Dutch House! Ann Patchett is one of my favorite authors and Tom Hanks is a great narrator. The Dutch House did not disappoint. Patchett’s descriptions brought the house and the different time periods to life. The plot and characters were well developed. It was long, but never lagged. Hanks narration was perfect from beginning to end. It was a engaging audio book and I’m sure would be a great read.

Disclaimer: I’m a major Jonathan Van Ness fan… so it is no surprise that I loved his story and his own narration of that story. It’s not always an easy listen. Jonathan was honest about all of his weaknesses and struggles. He was equally honest about his strengths and determination to succeed. Anyone who has ever felt like an outsider of any kind could be inspired by his story, although it’s definitely an adult themed book. Definitely a good listen!

I really enjoyed Circe by Madeline Miller. It reminded me of a female Ulysses story. There were gods and goddesses, adventures and romance (of the ancient goddess kind). It was also the story of Circe finding her power. I listened to the Audible audio version, which was engaging and a good listen.

It Burns: The Scandal-Plagued Race to Breed the World’s Hottest Chilli is an Audible Original written and narrated by Marc Fennell. I’ve never had any experience or knowledge of the competition between hot chilli growers and/or people who ingest them. The story was adult in nature and at times graphically violent. I’m not sure this was information that I needed. It was not my favorite Audible Original.

I really enjoyed the Audible adaptation of Emma by Jane Austen. It was a very enjoyable adaptation of the original. My only complaint is that it was not longer. I was very engaged with the story, as I was with the original and didn’t want it to end. It’s definitely an old-fashioned, period piece. The full cast production was great. Definitely a good listen!

The Queen: Aretha Franklin was an Audible Original that comes free with the monthly membership. I definitely enjoyed the short biographical piece. It helped to have a prior knowledge of Aretha Franklin. It was a quick and entertaining listen.

Folsom Untold: The Strange Story of Johnny Cash is an Audible Original written by Danny Robbins. The story is specifically about Johnny Cash’s Folsom Prison recording and his friendship with Glen Sherley, a prisoner at Folsom. It was very interesting and contained a lot of information about Cash and the album that I didn’t know. The story was written by Danny Robbins, a journalist, on the 50th anniversary of the album. The content and language in Folsom Untold are definitely adult in nature. Definitely a good listen!
