Historia
Obituary writer Nadine Barbault doesn’t mind being called “Lady Death”. It suits the ice queen persona she’s cultivated to survive the fast-paced Toronto Herald. So when Nadine learns that famous (and reclusive) author Dot Voline has died, she doesn’t hesitate to run the obituary…only to discover that Dot is very much alive. Nadine’s screw-up has brought Wesley Chen of the rival Spear no end of joy—she’s been a thorn in his extremely ambitious side for years. But the renewed interest in Dot also surfaced chatter about a mysterious past scandal.

Feel Good Story
Revisado: 11-21-24
This is the third book by Lily Chu that I’ve listened to on audiobooks. Each one has been an entertaining story that keeps your interest from beginning to end. She makes you smile quite frequently as her characters move through the story she presents. I am enjoying her work immensely. This is an author that can make you feel the emotions of her characters and leaves you feeling good about her story even as it ends. Sometimes I find myself so involved with her characters that I wish there was a sequel or two to continue on with their lives. Thank you for these beautiful stories Lily Chu.

Historia
At one time, Corrie ten Boom would have laughed at the idea that she had a story to tell. For the first 50 years of her life, nothing out of the ordinary ever happened to her. She was a spinster watchmaker living contentedly with her sister and their elderly father in the tiny house over their shop in Haarlem. Their uneventful days, as regulated as their own watches, revolved around their abiding love for one another. But with the Nazi invasion and occupation of Holland, everything changed....

Great Legal thrill ride!
Revisado: 04-30-24
This author presents his story as if it is the actual court case. You feel as if you have a front row seat to a case that is monumental in its relevance to one of the most devastating problems currently plaguing our nation. As for the author, who is an attorney himself, I feel that his writing is among some of the best there is. He is right up there with the likes of John Grisham, Victor Methos, Steve Martini, Michael Connelly, and Jeffrey Deaver (just to name a few).

Stellar
Revisado: 02-28-24
This was one of the best stories I’ve listened to on audiobooks. It begins with a college student’s assignment to write a biography of an elderly person. It ends with the student solving a 30 year old murder for which his subject was wrongly incarcerated for and the student nearly becoming a victim of said murderer. The story of the lives involved with the case is well written and keeps you listening to the very end.

AI Voice is annoying
Revisado: 02-23-24
The use of AI voice detracts from the story. I might have liked this book a bit more if a good narrator was chosen to deliver the story.

Historia
Assistant District Attorney Butch Karp is finally recognized for his heroic service to New York City when a group of politicians back him for the top job as Manhattan's district attorney. But a series of cases involving vigilante murders begins to reveal the true motives of those civil servants standing by his side. It's Karp versus the dirty city in one of Tanenbaum's most revealing and caustic legal thrillers - a stunning indictment of civil corruption and overreach.

Too many characters
Revisado: 02-20-24
This would have been better to read rather than the audio version. The narrator was good but the many characters were hard to get straight for the first half of the book. Too many were showing up in the story before the first set were developed enough to remember their names. I could tell if they were the bad guys or the good guys but I had some trouble with who was whom. Was it a cop or was it a member of the D.A.’s office? Good story but very confusing trying to keep that many characters straight in the audio version.

Memory
Revisado: 10-29-23
Really good story about the disruption in a woman’s memory due to a trauma and the mystery of what is real and what is assumed to be real as she tries to piece her life back together. I liked it except for the ending, it left me wondering if she had recovered her memory or if she was doomed to repeat her struggle once more.

Historia
The first time violinist Julia Ansdell picked up the "Incendio Waltz" in a darkened antique shop in Rome, she knew it was a strikingly unusual composition. The minor key and complex feverish arpeggios have a life of their own. But when she plays the piece, Julia blacks out and awakens to find her small daughter implicated in acts of surprising violence. When she travels to Venice to find the previous owner of the music, she uncovers a heart-stoppingly dark secret....

Great audiobook!
Revisado: 06-17-23
Really loved the story. I wrote a review on Goodreads but I decided to say this on an Audible review. I don’t know how many times I rewound the last chapter so that I could listen to the beautiful violin composition. I finally went to Google to look up who wrote this beautiful piece. I was so shocked to find out that Tess Gerritsen composed it. My hat is off to you Ms. Gerritsen. Not only do you write great books, but you are a fantastic musician/composer. This piece made me feel as if I was in Italy and I could feel the sadness and also the anger and fear that the characters in your story must have felt. This presentation was more than just an audiobook it was a composition and performance that I will never forget. Thank you so much!
