Historia
Detective Sam Helsdown hasn’t seen his daughter Zoe in two years and he’s excited and more than a little nervous to be at the airport picking her up for a visit. She’s 10 years old and has flown on her own for the first time. Flight BA631 from Athens has already landed and soon a trickle of people begins entering Arrivals. Among them is a little girl who runs towards him, head down, and throws herself into his arms saying ‘Daddy!’. But then he looks at her properly. This is not Zoe. This is not his daughter.

Twists and turns

I must admit I was a little unsure in the beginning as I believed I knew the direction this story was going, but I was very wrong. This story is filled with twists and turns and keeps you on your toes! A great story for sure.

Broken and healing
Revisado: 07-27-23
This story shines light on how a foster child battles with not only their emotions, but also their environment for years after becoming a foster child. It helps explain that while not every foster home is the same, it is important to have them for the thousands of children who need them.

Historia
Some secrets are best left locked away in the past. Alexa Kendrick has no recollection of the car accident that left her scarred and sent her life careening wildly off course. When the half-sister she thought she'd never meet shows up at her door with an invitation to a new life, Alexa finds herself in Florence, Arizona, a town notorious for being populated with more prison inmates than actual citizens; a town that has done its best to hide its own dark secret.

Historia
Dave Pelzer was brutally abused as a child by his emotionally unstable, alcoholic mother. She considered him a slave - no longer a boy, but an "it". He was physically and mentally tortured and starved. The outside world knew nothing of the nightmare he experienced behind closed doors, and his father was aware of the abuse but turned to denial and alcohol. The abuse only fueled a determination to survive and become stronger.

Be prepared for shocking moments and rage towards this child’s mother and father. I have wanted to read/listen to this book for years. I could have never imagined how awful it would be. Heart breaking.
