Historia
Novelist Sheri Reynolds weaves lyrical prose and folksy dialogue into her spellbinding tales. The Rapture of Canaan, a New York Times best-seller, is the moving story of a teenaged girl clashing with her harshly controlled world. Growing up in a closed religious community deep in the rural South, 15-year-old Ninah Huff painstakingly and obediently follows her church’s many rules—she knows that public humiliation follows the smallest transgression

compelling story

Maybe it is because many years ago my grandmother gave me this book to read. I remember reading and loving it. I would sit at her table and talk about the book with her. She was an avid reader and was always excited to share her thoughts and feelings of a story. She passed a couple years ago and I have semi searched for this book again, but didn't have any luck. So when I saw it on Audible I was definitely adding it to my library. I loved listening to every single word of this book!
The characters are believable and you can close your eyes and see them. The scene described so vividly. I could feel what these characters were feeling. The ending kind of leaves off a bit, but then again, most books do for me. Thats when I know they are good... always leave me wanting to know/hear/read more. Thank you Audible for adding this to my collection ❤

Historia
Alice Wright marries handsome American Bennett Van Cleve hoping to escape her stifling life in England. But small-town Kentucky quickly proves equally claustrophobic, especially living alongside her overbearing father-in-law. So, when a call goes out for a team of women to deliver books as part of Eleanor Roosevelt’s new traveling library, Alice signs on enthusiastically. The leader, and soon Alice's greatest ally, is Margery, a smart-talking, self-sufficient woman who's never asked a man's permission for anything.

took me by surprise
Revisado: 12-06-19
After reading "Where the Crawdads Sing" I have found myself in a lull, craving another book to pull me in the way it had. I have to admit with reading the synopsis of the story for "The Giver of the Stars" I didn't think it was going to be a worthy story. A whole book about horse back riding librarians??? In no way would it be THAT interesting, but from the epilogue I was hooked! the story beautiful. The narration perfect. I was consumed with it! So if you are like me I promise you will love this book!!!!!

Historia
For years, rumors of the "Marsh Girl" have haunted Barkley Cove, a quiet town on the North Carolina coast. So in late 1969, when handsome Chase Andrews is found dead, the locals immediately suspect Kya Clark, the so-called Marsh Girl. But Kya is not what they say. Sensitive and intelligent, she has survived for years alone in the marsh that she calls home, finding friends in the gulls and lessons in the sand.

amazing read
Revisado: 07-20-19
From the very start of the book, I was drawn in and completely immersed into the Marsh of North Carolina. The story of Kia was heartwrenching and empowering. The evolution of an abandoned girl into a woman. I can not recommend this book enough!!!
