Historia
It’s the opening night of The Manor, the newest and hottest luxury resort, and no expense, small or large, has been spared. The infinity pool sparkles; the “Manor Mule” cocktail (grapefruit, ginger, vodka, and a dash of CBD oil) is being poured with a heavy hand. Everyone is wearing linen.

Decent story ruined by time warp
Revisado: 01-29-25
The tale jumps back and forth between three timeframes: past, present, future. It’s annoying and very hard to follow.

Really great story. Aggravating characters at times, but very entertaining tale that was hard to stop listening to. Fantastic reader as always!

Historia
“Why is this town called Mother’s Rest?” That’s all Reacher wants to know. But no one will tell him. It’s a tiny place hidden in a thousand square miles of wheat fields, with a railroad stop, and sullen and watchful people, and a worried woman named Michelle Chang, who mistakes him for someone else: her missing partner in a private investigation she thinks must have started small and then turned lethal.

Dull then Disturbing
Revisado: 12-16-24
I don’t think Lee Child actually writes these Reacher novels anymore. They’ve been getting progressively worse and this one is by far the worst. It’s tedious, and painfully slow most of the way. Then the end is dark and disturbing. It will be the last one I buy.

Not a good audio book choice
Revisado: 03-21-24
This was extremely hard to follow as an audio book because there are so many characters and locations. There isn’t a long enough pause between scenes to indicate a change in scenes/characters. Throwing in the towel after struggling for 8.5 hours, what a waste…

Hard to follow
Revisado: 02-06-24
Good story but it was hard to follow with constant jumping back and forth in time and many different characters introduced with each timeline jump. Might be easier to follow in print form but Audible was a challenge.

Mixed feelings…
Revisado: 11-11-23
Great storyline but the narrator and her little-girl voice was terrible. Also really hated the spineless personality of the main character.

Entertaining but hard to follow
Revisado: 09-01-23
The constant jumping back and forth in time makes it really hard to follow, especially in audio format. I found it challenging to keep all the characters straight as the names of many were similar in sound. But it kept me entertained and I only sped up the rate to 1.15!

Unbelievable tale
Revisado: 08-14-23
This could have been a great story had the child involved not been 9. No 9 year old would have the discernment, language skills, and situational awareness that this kid had. She’s a spoiled brat and I had hoped to learn how the true story of her “kidnapping” came out but the author decided to just end the story with a cliffhanger as if I would waste more time and money reading a sequel. No thanks.
