Historia
It’s Gamache’s first day back as head of the homicide department, a job he temporarily shares with his previous second-in-command, Jean-Guy Beauvoir. Flood waters are rising across the province. In the middle of the turmoil a father approaches Gamache, pleading for help in finding his daughter. As crisis piles upon crisis, Gamache tries to hold off the encroaching chaos, and realizes the search for Vivienne Godin should be abandoned. But with a daughter of his own, he finds himself developing a profound, and perhaps unwise, empathy for her distraught father.

Was this written by a GHOST WRITER???
Revisado: 07-19-21
I have adored this entire series for years.
Number 15 is a huge disappointment. Suddenly we're in Detective Work 101, the conversations between the detectives are so pedestrian and dumb! Did they lose all their expertise in Number 14? Very disappointed.

What Happened to Adrian McKinty?
Revisado: 02-22-21
This is a total departure from the awesome Irish writing of Adrian McKinty. It's formulaic, and read by a flat-accented American. Incredibly disappointing. Also, there were too many clues that it was not written by an American.

Historia
When she stumbles across the ad, she’s looking for something else completely. But it seems like too good an opportunity to miss - a live-in nannying post, with a staggeringly generous salary. And when Rowan Caine arrives at Heatherbrae House, she is smitten - by the luxurious “smart” home fitted out with all modern conveniences, by the beautiful Scottish Highlands, and by this picture-perfect family. What she doesn’t know is that she’s stepping into a nightmare - one that will end with a child dead and herself in prison awaiting trial for murder.

Absolutely Fantastic
Revisado: 10-08-19
Ruth Ware is a peerless writer of personal suspense and this book is incredibly clever and fascinating.
Imogen Church, an amazingly gifted narrator brings humor and gravitas to her storytelling like no other narrator working today. Fantastic book. Fans of Disney wont GET this! Far too sophisticated.

Meet Eleanor Oliphant: She struggles with appropriate social skills and tends to say exactly what she's thinking. Nothing is missing in her carefully timetabled life of avoiding social interactions, where weekends are punctuated by frozen pizza, vodka, and phone chats with Mummy. But everything changes when Eleanor meets Raymond, the bumbling and deeply unhygienic IT guy from her office.

Excellent Novel

The protagonist is quirky and very charming and I would say suffers from Aspergers and PTSD. As a result, we get to see the world from a different and very earnest point of view. The book is a great listen and the narrator does a splendid job. I recommend!

Joy Ellis needs a good editor.
Revisado: 06-06-17
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
Joy Ellis is a good writer, but she needs a literate editor. A good editor would point out the meaning of the word, Reticent, which is NOT synonymous to reluctant. Saying "reticent to speak" is redundant and wrong. Tantor Publishing/Recorded Books should hire me instead.
Any additional comments?

Disappointingly similar plot to #2 Eeny Meany
Revisado: 02-16-16
Would you try another book from M. J. Arlidge and/or Elizabeth Bower and Scott Joseph ?
I was thrilled to find MJ Arlidge and the Detective Helen Grace series, and was entertained by #1 and #2. Unfortunately, the plot of #3 is too similar to #2, and there were some totally implausible stupid parts that were fabricated just to lengthen the plot/suspense.
What could M. J. Arlidge have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
Devised a better plot

sadly jumped the shark about halfway through
Revisado: 06-02-15
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
A better editor! I was fine with this detective story, plot and narrator, until the cat drank a thimbal of whiskey. No cat in the world would ever drink whiskey, but then the characters themselves do things that we know as detectives they would never do. This book could have been very good, had the editor done a good job.
Would you ever listen to anything by Richard Montanari again?
no
How did the narrator detract from the book?
narrator was ok
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
Yes, the plot, etc. was interesting
