Historia
There are hangovers, there are bad hangovers, and then there's waking up inside someone else's head. Thirty-something bartender Charlie Wilkes is faced with this dilemma when he wakes up to find himself trapped inside The Black Room - a space consisting of impenetrable darkness and a huge, ethereal screen floating in its center. It is through this screen that he sees the world of his female host, Minnie.

Narrator was clearly on amphetamine whilst reading this and on acid when he edited, if he even did. The number of 5 star reviews is suspicious to say the least, given the number of errors in the text, repeated lines, random laughing in the middle of passages.
Story could have been great if done by a professional

Historia
Adolf Hitler, the "Supreme Warlord" of Germany's Third Reich, ruled Europe with an iron fist. With his political promises to a desperate people he spoke of a reign that would last 1,000 years. Under his command humanity had entered a new dark age. Tales were told of horrors taking place in the East - of railroad cars, of ovens, and death. Still, there was one little secret he had kept to himself. One U-boat captain discovers that Hitler was a vampire!

Good story. Great performance
Revisado: 12-03-15
This was a great listen. I'm not quite sure I'd class it as an out and out horror though, more of a thriller with a supernatural element.
The narrator did an all round excellent job. His voice is deeply resonant and perfectly suited to the material.
If I had to have one criticism, it would be that the author should have broken up the structure a bit better, more than once the narrator paused for a POV change and said 'Two' making me wonder if I had skipped back by accident.
Definitely give this a go!

Decent content delivered poorly
Revisado: 07-02-15
The content of the book was OK, there are a few bits and pieces in it that might be useful, nothing you couldnt find by googling though.
I swear if it wasn't for the mouth noises that this was narrated by a text to speech engine.
Truly awful narration

90's Action Fans Will Love It
Revisado: 03-27-14
I cannot put my finger precisely on why I didn't enjoy this book as much as I wanted to.
Perhaps it was the Keanu Reeves style narration delivery (The characterisations were far better). Perhaps it was the numerous errors (Kirsten,Kristen which is it?). Perhaps it was the product placements which ground my gears? Did we *really* need to know it was a Sony monitor, or an Apple MacBook?
All that said, I think it just didn't excite me the way the author intended. It was all just a bit hollywood for me. I like my fiction to have grit, real emotion and characters I care about.
This had none of that.
If you loved 90's SciFi flicks like Universal Soldier, The Terminator, Red Scorpion then this will be your bag.

I couldn't recommend this book enough to anyone who's fond of classic Japanese movie monsters like Godzilla and Mothra!
Jeffrey Kafers smooth delivery draws you in, makes it real and doesn't let you off the hook until the last sentence has been read.
Jeremy Robinsons writing is exquisite. Cant wait to grab the next in the series!

Pleasantly Surprised
Revisado: 01-30-14
If you could sum up The Prince of Luster and Decay in three words, what would they be?
Soldiers, Demons, War
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Prince of Luster and Decay?
The build up to the final scene was tense. The narrator did a fine job of keeping the atmosphere as the author would have intended. Vocally, Nigel Patterson sounds very like Sir Tony Robinson, which is no bad thing!
Which scene was your favorite?
I really enjoyed the final standoff between the sergeants character and The Prince
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes, as a novella it was easily listened to on my morning commute
Any additional comments?
I shall be looking for the rest of the series!
