Historia
Why have so many Americans turned against democracy? In this deeply reported book, Katherine Stewart takes us to conferences of conspiracy-mongers, backroom strategy gatherings, and services at extremist churches, and profiles the people who want to tear it all down.

A mixed bag
Revisado: 03-01-25
A good reference work perhaps but almost too much detail in spots, at least for a casual reader. The list of organizations and persons would put a Russian novel to shame. It does do a very good job of documenting the threat of antidemocratic movements in the US. At times it can tend to merely drive into the ditch on the other side of the road in painting opponents in the harshest possible light (e.g. in describing the pro-life movement).

Historia
Both science and religion explore aspects of reality, providing "a basis for their mutual interaction as they present their different perspectives onto the one world of existent reality," Polkinghorne argues. In One World he develops his thesis through an examination of the nature of science, the nature of the physical world, the character of theology, and the modes of thought in science and theology. He identifies "points of interaction" and points of potential conflict between science and religion.

A good general intro to the topic
Revisado: 02-05-25
The content is general, though it certainly helps to have some background in both theology and science. Many good thoughts, though only a fairly general overall theme. The audiobook.is a bit hindered by a reader who frankly seemed both uninterested in the topic and had trouble with pronunciation of names and scientific terms.

Historia
Drawing from a diverse range of theologians, sociologists, artists, and activists, Confronting Injustice Without Compromising Truth, by Thaddeus Williams, makes the case that we must be discerning if we are to "truly execute justice" as Scripture commands. Not everything called "social justice" today is compatible with a biblical vision of a better world. The Bible offers hopeful and distinctive answers to deep questions of worship, community, salvation, and knowledge that ought to mark a uniquely Christian pursuit of justice.

Many good thoughts
Revisado: 11-30-21
Though it sometimes falls into a simple binary analysis of the situation, there is much-needed clarity in the overall thesis. Justice is good but does not stand independent of the worldview behind it. The socialism/capitalism appendix is especially weak, but this is an outlier in an otherwise well-argued book.

Historia
J. Gresham Machen once said, "False ideas are the greatest obstacles to the reception of the Gospel" - which makes apologetics that much more important. Wanting to engage not just academics and pastors but Christian laypeople and seekers, William Lane Craig has revised and updated key sections in this third edition of his classic text to reflect the latest work in astrophysics, philosophy, probability calculus, arguments for the existence of God, and Reformed epistemology.

Not bad for a reading of a textbook
Revisado: 09-18-19
This is a textbook, and so a reading is not optimal (especially when modal logic and statistics is the topic). However, it is a great text overall in providing an apologetic basis for Christian convictions for the graduate student or advanced undergrad. The reading itself occasionally suffers (the reader has some trouble with foreign and technical terms) but it is only mildly distracting. Overall enough to make me want to buy the print version.
