Historia
When the Air National Guard receives an emergency call for help from a remote Arctic research station in Greenland, Senior Master Sergeant Dan Cameron is chosen to lead the rescue mission. In an attempt to combat climate change, the scientists have genetically engineered an aquatic biofilm capable of generating oxygen and lowering the temperature of the underlying seawater, producing environmental conditions that awaken an organism that has lain dormant beneath the ocean floor for millions of years.

Left me with chills!
Revisado: 10-16-21
Chimera is an organism awoken after science experiments gone awry. It's the classic altruistic person meets greedy, attention grabbing person story with a horrifying set of twists and turns. Setting is a remote, subzero science station. Language is full of science and medical jargon, The narrator, Joe Hempel was exemplary in his abilities to pronounce the many, amny technical words as well as to provide fantastic and theme-appropriate tones. (I did play book at 1.1 speed). Overall, I enjoyed the book's twists and turns and really valued its scientific accuracy. I cut it down a star becuase while well written, story pandered to a bit of a self-righteous bent on scientific morals. Marked it down a star for typing females and the"elderly".
I received a code for this book.

a little sophmoric but solid and engaging story
Revisado: 09-02-19
Killing Me Softly is a light murder mystery with some romance sprinkled in. Story is about a murderer who last murdered 16 years ago and appears to have started up again. The author seems "new" so language is a little dramatic at times and story is a little predictable, but the author has developed her characters nicely.
There's a fantastic sex scene. Story intriguing. Narrator decent although a little slow in speaking (I upped the narration speed).

Compelling story, new author, part of a series
Revisado: 12-16-18
Presumption of guilt follows attorney Dani Trumbull's work with the Innocence project. This is book 2 in a series. This book is the second in a series of 4. The "cast" of the series is great with a variety of characters. I love the narrator!! Her voice is clear and she voices multiple accents well. I highly recommend the series!

Slow, narrator not right fit for book
Revisado: 12-16-18
I listened to this for about 10 minutes before I gave up. The narrator isn't the right voice for the character. The story is slow and not what I imagined it to be.

Historia
Lucy Wakefield is a seemingly ordinary woman who does something extraordinary in a desperate moment: She takes a baby girl from a shopping cart and raises her as her own. It's a secret she manages to keep for over two decades - from her daughter, the babysitter who helped raise her, family, coworkers, and friends. When Lucy's now-grown daughter, Mia, discovers the devastating truth of her origins, she is overwhelmed by confusion and anger and determines not to speak again to the mother who raised her.

Predictable ending, skimmed through to the ending
Revisado: 07-15-18
What Was Mine is a story about Lucy, who spontaneously abducts a baby after experiencing hew own tragedy with a daughter. Eventually, Lucy writes a novel with a similar story and the birth mother uncovers the truth. The story is told in the ever-popular mode of he said she said chapter by chapter (though in this case it's she said she said). I fast forwarded the story because I found the storyline simplistic and boring.

Such a fun series love the English accents!
Revisado: 07-15-18
Cherringham is a series of 3 short--2 hour--mysteries. It reminds me a little of Agatha Christie. It took me a little while to get into the first story as the cadence is slow, but I quickly fell in love with the narrator, who really makes you visualize the characters.

Clever, absorbing, get caught in the story book
Revisado: 06-22-18
Oh, this book was so fun! Good read is propelled by a great narrator and witty writing. Author Duncan Whitehead has developed the main characters, 5 older women bonded by their lust for good looking men and dogs, so that you can amost see them walking their dogs in a hot Savannah park. The narrator voices each character distinctly. The story wraps up with a mystery--who killed ? OVerall really, really entertaining and a light look at aging.
