These great stories are read in such a cold uninteresting monotone drone that they are just too difficult to listen to. They are also rushed and contain no detail or atmosphere.

This is probably the worst interpretation of this wonderful story I have ever heard and I strongly suggest you try an alternative version offered by audible.com.
This version feels rushed and lacks detail and any sort of atmosphere. You simple dont get any sense of fear from scrooge upon the coming of the spirits. The more I think about it it seems to try to tell the story in as few a words as possible.
