I never read fantasy books but this was excellent. The story moved along well and the characters are so exciting and dynamic. Highly recommend whether this is your style or not!

If I could erase this from my memory to read it again I would do it in a second. The performances were amazing and the book was so well-written and exciting. Every chapter had me hooked and the twist and turns kept coming. This is the best book I’ve read this year.

Freida’s Plot Holes

There’s a lot of good things to say about this book. It’s an easy listen and the performances are really great. I just can’t listen to any of Freida’s books and not get super annoyed with her plot holes. These books are not set in fantasy worlds so her loose understanding of the criminal system is annoying and she seems to make things up to push along the plot. Personally, I’ll only listen to her free books.

Excellent story and amazing narration

Narration did the story no justice

The story was honestly pretty good and I wish I had read the book as opposed to listen because the narrators just didn’t put any of the life into it that it needed. At one point, I paused and actually said “I think this is supposed to be the climax of the book” but was genuinely unsure because of the tone. I was able to push past it and enjoy the story but can’t give it a good rating because if you are someone unable to push past then you should skip this one.

Simply an excellent book

It’s a great story and the narration is AMAZING. If you have found the narration ruined a book for you please listen to this one and restore your faith in audiobooks. They give good trigger warnings in the beginning but I thought it was going to be gorier than it actually was so don’t let it scare you too much if you read horror/crime books regularly.

Amazing!- but you have to pay close attention

I am thankful I didn’t read reviews before listening because I may have missed out on hearing this book. It’s everything I love BECAUSE the characters are crazy and I was just along for the ride. My only complaint is, for me, I like to listen to books while I run errands or do house work so the constant changing of narrators could sometimes be a little hard to follow. The author will also have two characters talking, two who are well-known already in the story, and use phrases like “Erin couldn’t believe what the other woman just said” and I would have to rewind to figure out what was going on. That did not ruin it for me but this book would’ve definitely benefited from a cast of readers. Overall, I really had fun listening to this and if you want something to listen to that’s interesting and has some great twists and turns, you found it.

The Barbie movie of books

Simply; Those who get it, get it and those who don’t, don’t. This book was so introspective and it makes you so uncomfortable in, for me, an important way. I have so many great things to say but I feel like they all give too much so just please read it!

Prepare to be let down

Here’s a better description of this book: We are going to have you listen to 7 hours of infuriating gaslighting to an unlikeable narrator and then wrap it up in 30 min like nothing ever happened. I can’t believe how disappointing the ending was. The performance was also confusing. It didn’t seem to match when we wrap the book out and find out what happens. They really had me in the beginning and they kept me enough that I had to see how it ended but it let me down.
