Historia
We begin with a nameless young couple: a boy and a girl, teenagers in love. One day, she disappears . . . and her absence haunts him for the rest of his life. Thus begins a search for this lost love that takes the man into middle age and on a journey between the real world and an other world—a mysterious, perhaps imaginary, walled town where unicorns roam, where a Gatekeeper determines who can enter and who must remain behind, and where shadows become untethered from their selves.

Trying to Grapple With Eternity
Revisado: 02-15-25
Beautiful and ethereal as always, Murakami presents this book as parallel stories about solitary people. Because I too have grown old with him, I felt as though Murakami was drawing a map by hand, to guide us toward whatever lies beyond.

The voice and the character are a bit different than Glass and Steel. I enjoy the author so any redundancy is fine with me!

Some dated language; vague xenophobia and mocking of the disabled. I’m. Sure the author would treat these subjects differently today (12/2023).
