Historia
Plenty of experts argue that anyone who wants to develop a skill, play an instrument, or lead their field should start early, focus intensely, and rack up as many hours of deliberate practice as possible. But a closer look at research on the world’s top performers shows that early specialization is the exception, not the rule. David Epstein examined the world’s most successful athletes, artists, musicians, inventors, forecasters and scientists. He discovered that in most fields—especially those that are complex and unpredictable—generalists, not specialists, are primed to excel.

Good stuff!

I am not normally a non-fiction reader. My husband purchased this book at the recommendation of his boss. He listened to and told me about Tiger and Roger. I love Roger so I decided to listen. LOL. I really enjoyed the entire book. The author is an engaging storyteller. I found the subject of range relevant as I return to the workplace after years of volunteering and also as we start looking at colleges for our kids. The idea of range is an important perspective. I’m glad I listened.

Historia
Madeline is a force to be reckoned with. She’s funny, biting, and passionate; she remembers everything and forgives no one. Celeste is the kind of beautiful woman who makes the world stop and stare, but she is paying a price for the illusion of perfection. New to town, single mom Jane is so young that another mother mistakes her for a nanny. She comes with a mysterious past and a sadness beyond her years. These three women are at different crossroads, but they will all wind up in the same shocking place.

Could not endure to finish
Revisado: 04-03-23
This might be a good story, but, for me, it is not well suited to a single-narrator audiobook. There are so many “bit” characters who show up periodically, it’s just too hard to track them all when the narrator’s voice never changes. The narration was whiny and entitled, which likely suits the story, but so.slow. Even at 1.5x speed, I could not endure the narration and I could not make myself care about any of the characters. I made it about 40% through the book and I am done. Choosing not to waste any more of my time on this story that has completely derailed my reading momentum for the year. Time to get back on track and find some characters I can care about.

Historia
A U.S. Navy F/A-18 flying over Afghanistan is suddenly diverted and ordered to bomb a building in Pakistan, where a meeting between al Qaeda and the Taliban is taking place. After destroying their target, the fighter jet is immediately hit by Stinger missiles and the pilots eject over Pakistan. They are captured, assaulted, and dragged through the streets of Peshawar. The world is on edge. The fliers are quickly forced onto a secret Falcon jet headed for the Netherlands, where they'll stand trial for war crimes at the International Criminal Court.

Not quite as good as Marine One, but definitely keep my attention and was not the ending I expected.

Spins a great tale

I'm really enjoying books by this author. My primary complaint is the narrator's portrayal of female voices. The intonation of female dialogue rarely seemed accurate to me.
