Historia
Rock and roll in the BC (Before Cooper) era was a tamer, milder world. In Who I Really Am, Cooper’s latest addition to Audible’s Words + Music series, we learn how the boa-wearing (not the feathered kind) maestro arrived at a show and sound - let’s call it AC for After Cooper - that has entertained millions of kids while terrifying parents in equal measure. Cooper drew inspiration from Saturday matinee horror movies, applied a "no such thing as too much" attitude, and hitched it to a kick-ass rock and roll band.

Alice by Alice
Revisado: 12-28-21
Great Narration, Alice has stories for days and he could have gone on and on. I really liked the reworked versions of his songs, they really added a new element and highlighted Alice’s voice. The only drawback was that very little time was spent on his time after From the Inside, only briefly talking about the lost years from Special Forces to Dada and completely skipping everything musical that came after Dada. Like I said, he could keep going…

Having entertained the idea for years, and even offered a few questionable opportunities ("It's a piece of cake! Just do four hours of interviews, find someone else to write it, put your face on the cover, and voila!") I have decided to tell these stories just as I have always done, in my own voice.

Just what you expect from Grohl
Revisado: 12-08-21
Dave is a good storyteller and quite a humble guy who knows how lucky he is to have the life he has and all the experiences that have come with it. If you are a fan there is nothing shocking here but I liked the book and Dave is easy to listen to. Dave covers most of his background, even sharing his thoughts about Cobain’s passing but mostly he just seems grateful for everything that has happened

Based on extensive research and interviews with some of the participants, Browne - a contributing editor at Rolling Stone and author of Fire and Rain and Dream Brother - vividly chronicles the year America went rock & roll in everything from politics to technology. The Spirit of '76 will make you think anew about an under-appreciated moment in the country - and will make you wonder if its optimistic, can-do spirit of reinvention and renewal will ever come again.

This was a brief but accurate synopsis of ‘76 as a turning point in America. It touches on many aspects of American culture at the time citing music and arts as the background/impetus for change that affected American lifestyles and politics.

Historia
Before Gary Clark Jr.’s first major-label album even debuted, the music world had already labeled him the rightful torchbearer of the blues. In his new Audible Original, Deep Soul Lowdown, the soft-spoken Texas guitar hero unpacks the gravity (and limitations) of such towering expectations as he recounts his astonishing life journey from teenage phenomenon to inheritor of the very mantle of his mentors.

Inside Gary Clark Jr’s Head
Revisado: 05-22-21
Been a fan of Gary Clark Jr. for a while now but never heard any interviews with him. This was a great way to get in his head and see where he had been and where he was coming from. He has a laid back approach which makes it easy to listen to and I found his stories fascinating.

Historia
Most priests hear confessions. This one is making his. Rob Halford, front man of global iconic metal band Judas Priest, is a true "Metal God." Raised in Britain's hard-working, heavy industrial heartland, he and his music were forged in the Black Country. Confess, his full autobiography, is an unforgettable rock 'n' roll story—a journey from a Walsall council estate to musical fame via alcoholism, addiction, police cells, ill-fated sexual trysts, and bleak personal tragedy, through to rehab, coming out, redemption...and finding love.

The Metal God confesses
Revisado: 10-14-20
Rob Halford does a great job sharing the story of his life. He details the rise of Judas Priest while also being very frank about his personal life and the struggles he faced as a closeted gay man fronting a band whose fan base was not perceived to be accepting of gay culture. It is good that Rob’s worries we’re all for naught and that he has found peace, happiness, and love and was able to share his story. Quite a good read (listen)!
