Couldn't listen Nasty smut from very beginning. Absolutely no discernable story. Just smut. I'm not a prude -: geez, I'm a Laurell K Hamilton fan ... but this book. NO. Just NO.

I'm going to request Audible remove any trace of this book from my account.

Although plot purposely easy to guess early on, plenty of less obvious things unexpectedly came to light to provide some surprises.

I loved the story and especially the growing romantic tension between the hero and heroine.

As soon as this book ended, I immediately clicked on the highlighted series name. However, although there were several Aurélie Venem books listed all but this one, were in a non-English language perhaps French?

I went to the internet and found a posting by the author addressed to her English and German readers that apologized but stated Audible had decided not to go forward with translating and recording anymore of the series.

I am extremely disappointed that Audible has made this decision. I was so into the beginning of this series and then BOOM! To discover that despite the existence of the remainder of the series - Audible had just shrugged its metaphorical shoulder and decided for me that I didn't need to know what happens with the story... I am not just disappointed but ANGRY. Over the many years I've been a faithful Audible subscriber, I've purchased well OVER 1,000 books. Audible ... in frustrated and very, very disappointed. Please, arrange for us poor ignorant monolingual Americans (like myself!) to have the remainder of this series available to listen to in English.

Long, emotionally draining, YA polyamory mmmf end

Four main characters - all with their own stories. Individually their life stories wouldn't have filled an entire book without a lot of padding- but with the intensity of the things that these young adults either had experienced or were currently living through - it was just too much for one book. I felt emotionally drained and a bit depressed by the end.

I'm by no means a prude, however, there was a lot of non-vanilla sex during the last quarter of the book. I've certainly encountered far more graphic audible books - however, this seemed like a young adult novel for most of the book until the last third or fourth of book. Then it went almost straight into polyamory territory. I never had kids but, to me, it just seemed extreme for young adult material.

I liked the story overall. The heroine is an intelligent non-whiney woman - which was a relief. I'm so sick of whining women and especially those the authors have "thinking" and going over-and-over-and OVER the same TSTL things ad nauseum.

This book IS NOT guilty of that. That said the heroine is a stubborn ball-busting bitch. If must be one or the other ... I prefer the ball-buster like in this book because she is actually intelligent. At least until things heat up between her and the main guy.

Like "Volume 1" this book "Volume 2" was a cliffhanger. It wasn't a problem for me because I pay the small monthly charge for "The Romance Package" and this was included in that package thus it was free for me. All three "Volumes" of "Hitched" are included in the Romance Package. But, if I'd encountered these cliffhangers previously - I'd have been extremely annoyed!

I was well-pleased with this romance because:

** No TSTL characters. Thank you Karina Halle!!

** No glaringly obvious errors (e.g. of grammar, generally well-known facts, medications, etc. ) Thank you again!

**** Please note "The Pact" was narrated by Shaun Grindell and, Lidia Dornet. Next books in series have different narrators. ****

** Shaun Grindell, the male narrator was excellent! He is either Scottish or did a great impression. He sounded authentic and very sexy. The female narrator, Lidia Dornet was great as long as she was doing American characters. Luckily there was only a small part very early in book where she had to read a wee bit of the Scot's dialog.

She sounded like an amalgamation of Australian/Kiwi ?? ... I don't exactly remember now except that I was confused because I thought the summary had mentioned a Scottish character. I paused the book while I re-read the description/summary and It DID say Scottish!

It was just that Lidia Dornet initially really butchered the accent. I think she got better the few other times she narrated the Scottish character - that or my brain auto-corrected the aural input it received. 🙃

** While there were a couple of not-so-nice characters, their parts were minimal.

"The Pact" is one of the best romances I've listened to recently (and I listen to at least 15 a month). Definitely credit worthy! Better yet, it's available as part of the "Romance Package".

Good story flawed only by first few chapters where the supposedly 40 year-old heroine acts like a spoiled, immature teenage child. Thankfully, she gets a clue and begins to act like an adult.

I can't imagine any man not desperate and homeless putting up with her crap - and definitely not an 800+ year old filthy rich dominant vampire.

After the heroine calms down, the story moves on and the book gets really good.

Very nice story with likeable H/h. No really stupid, whiny, Too Stupid To Live female characters. I'm female and I hate it when authors (usually female writers too!) make their heroines whiney, bitchy, clueless and TSTL.

No ridiculously overblown drama.

Refreshingly well written (decent grammar - a rarity in most contemporary romance novels).

Definitely worth a credit in my opinion.

I really enjoyed it. Pretty standard, but exceptionally well written, working-class girl and gorgeous rich guy love story. There was some wishy-washy whining by heroine but less overall than most romance novels. It was nice to read a romance where heroine is NOT continually saying or doing anything incredibly stupid.

My only gripe is that it ends abruptly with a cliffhanger. Luckily, I didn't read it until long after it was first published so I'm not left hanging for a year or more for next book... all I have to do is download the next book.

Same premise as Outlander, shorter, less complex

This is a regular one book historical romance set in late 13th century Wales. Book has same basic premise as Outlander in that a modern woman finds herself accidently transported back in time. That is where the similarities end however.

I enjoyed this book. The heroine of the story was neither TSTL or a raving bitch - such a breath of fresh air. The story was fast-moving and kept my attention.

The narrator did a GREAT job (to my American ears) with the different characters and the multiple accents required for each... British, American, French and Welsh. Having been an American on vacation in Wales [me attempting to read a map aloud ... may I PLEASE buy a handful of vowels!], I was especially impressed with her pronunciation of all the Welsh words and place names.

The romance was very sweet and I like both the hero and the heroine.
