Historia
William D. Cohan is no knee-jerk advocate for Wall Street and the big banks. He's one of America's most respected financial journalists and the progressive best-selling author of House of Cards. He has long been critical of the bad behavior that plagued much of Wall Street in the years leading up to the 2008 financial crisis, and because he spent 17 years as an investment banker on Wall Street, he is an expert on its inner workings as well.

Best reread of all my books
Revisado: 12-28-24
I re-listen to this book once every six months to remind myself why American ingenuity and America’s baking system are so intricately tied together. And I keep waiting for an updated book from Mr. Cohen so anyone please let me know if there’s one out there. If we Really want to make America great this is the blueprint.

Historia
Often when a corporation declares bankruptcy, that happens at the end of a long and difficult road. But entering bankruptcy proceedings also means setting out on a new and equally difficult road. That’s where Michael Lewis finds the subject of his next book, Sam Bankman-Fried. The company Bankman-Fried founded, FTX, entered bankruptcy late last year. For some perspective on what could be one of the messiest bankruptcy cases of recent times, Michael turns to David Skeel. Skeel is a professor of corporate law at the University of Pennsylvania and one of the foremost historians of bankruptcy in...

By day, I’m a cyber security program manager. But by night and on weekends, I attend Lewis University. From books about Wall Street to podcasts on bankruptcy, I’m immersed. If you’re a runner this will be your go to. Probably my favorite was his departure from finance, “The Premonition”. But you decide for yourself.

Historia
Cult of the Dead Cow is the tale of the oldest, most respected, and most famous American hacking group of all time. Though until now it has remained mostly anonymous, its members invented the concept of hacktivism. Today, the group and its followers are battling electoral misinformation, making personal data safer, and battling to keep technology a force for good instead of for surveillance and oppression. Cult of the Dead Cow shows how governments, corporations, and criminals came to hold immense power over individuals and how we can fight back against them.

Historia
During the most dizzying days of the financial crisis, Washington Mutual, a bank with hundreds of billions of dollars in its coffers, suffered a crippling bank run. The story of its final, brutal collapse in the autumn of 2008, and its controversial sale to JPMorgan Chase, is an astonishing account of how one bank lost itself to greed and mismanagement, and how the entire financial industry - and even the entire country - lost its way as well. Kirsten Grind’s The Lost Bank is a magisterial and gripping account of these events.

Silicon Valley Bank foreshadowed
Revisado: 03-26-23
Wow, very insightful. It's hard to believe that our least trusted institution, the federal government, takes over the brokering of a bank to the detriment of the community, its shareholders and preferred stockholder's, and to the betterment of one of the largest banks in the world JP Morgan Chase. It's tough to understand how this could have happened without insider trading Between the FDIC and JP Morgan Chase

Historia
This urgent and eye-opening book makes the case that protecting humanity's future is the central challenge of our time. If all goes well, human history is just beginning. Our species could survive for billions of years - enough time to end disease, poverty, and injustice, and to flourish in ways unimaginable today. But this vast future is at risk. With the advent of nuclear weapons, humanity entered a new age, where we face existential catastrophes - those from which we could never come back.
