A solid entry for a new fantasy story
Revisado: 03-01-25
First off I was given code for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. And to be honest I don’t think this is a story for me.
I enjoyed the lore and I enjoyed the story, but when it comes to magic, this was too soft of a system for me to really enjoy. However, i can see where plenty of people would enjoy it so I can’t say it was bad it was just not for me.
This entire book reads like a manga and feels like an anime, not a bad thing at all, I prefer character driven stories over plot driven stories. If you love anime like Naruto or Dragon ball Z/super you’ll love this. You should read it!
The author narrates this book and does a fantastic job at making this work feel like a manga. So you love that, you’ll love this. It just wasn’t my thing. However that being said I’m curious enough to want to read the sequel. I’d recommend it to anyone who loves soft magic and epic battles, but due to the plot driven nature of the story I didn’t feel like some things mattered as much as they should have.
One thing I loved that the author did was craft a large universe with many different avenues to explore. Listen to this, give it a chance because you might be surprised.
I gave this a 4 star because I know plenty of people would love it, but I wasn’t really hooked until the end. This book is great for its target audience, I just am not quite a part of it.

3.5/5 Stars Interesting Start to a Fantasy series

Great Entry into another wonderful fantasy world!
Revisado: 02-12-25
I loved this book and the story it contained. DL Jennings paints a beautiful world with his story telling. The characters are believable and enjoyable but suffer from a plot driven story. The biggest downside to this story is the amount of POV changes. Jennings is telling a great story through many eyes, but because of that, we don't get to see the characters develop as much as in other books I've read. Not a complete negative, plot driven stories are great as well.
The reveals and twists in this book are well foreshadowed, some better than others, but overall, nothing came out of left field as I listened to the story. Some things were predictable, and more enjoyable because of that.
My biggest negative is the same that has been communicated before, the audio editing at times isn't the best, but I can say Jennings did an admiral job. His range of voices did this book a service. I am excited to get into the next book.

Revisado: 01-21-25
I thoroughly enjoyed Unbound! The author did an amazing job in expanding the world and the magic in this book. As an engineer and lover of smithing myself there are several parts of this book that I enjoyed! You can definitely tell the author took great care in this research for this book.
Holt and Talia both grow in this book in their own respects and it was overall a great journey. I hope in book 3 we get more from Ash as I felt him a bit less out of the spotlight in this book compared to the first, but overall, so grateful for another great dragon rider series!

Revisado: 10-20-24
I enjoyed this book as much as the first one. Herald levels up more in preparation of the great hunt and finds out more about the mortucryon main quest. Lots of progress and not so much crunch for a litrpg.
The high school jokes continue which feels slightly out of place for a 32 yr old CEO but I understand with the title. I look forward to how Herald continues his unbox-like tank build as he continues to get hard!

Space opera not litrpg
Revisado: 03-02-24
I was extremely disappointed with this book because it wasn’t litrpg. The subtitle is misleading. It was however a good space opera. There was no stats no leveling up, but it was a good sci-fi story.
It ended in an odd spot, but overall it was good. The characters could use some more of a character arc as both felt somewhat flat. This feels like a RR to audio story and there wasn’t a true ending nor much tension for a climax.

Historia
Reidon Ward's first semester at the Galens Institute hasn't been without reward. In just over half a year he's gone from the weakest cadet at school to one of the strongest in his class, and there's no one left who would argue that his Device, Shido, isn't the most terrifying CAD they've ever laid eyes on. Still, Rei knows that his climb has barely begun, like he knows that the true fight is only just starting. After all… The Sectionals tournament has arrived. Rei, along with Aria, Viv, Catcher, and a couple unexpected squadmates, are about to face the first real battle of their careers.

A good sequel that sets the stage for an epic next book.
Revisado: 12-04-23
Much enjoyed story and more of Rei and Aria’s story is good to listen to. Once again Luke Daniels does an amazing job.
I am excited to see how the choices made affect Rei and his team moving forward. This book hit several needed tropes for this book and the humor was perfect in the right areas. My biggest issue is the continuance of the overly dramatic teen interactions as these kids learn to be people. I wish it was toned back a little more, that being said this was still leaps and bounds better than the first book.
My next small gripe is the amount of time that didn’t pass in this book compared to the first book and I hope the next one will finish out this first year of school as its hinting it could.
Thank you Mr. O’Conner for another great entry into this series.

Forget the diary of Anne Frank, read that one when you’re older. I would highly recommend this book find its way into the world history read list! Eddie does a fantastic job sharing his story but also sharing the keys to life’s happiness and joy.
I wish I could have had the chance to meet Mr. Jaku in person and thank him for sharing his story.

The battle in the heavens has left a target on Lindon’s back. His most reliable ally is gone, the Monarchs see him as a threat, and he has inherited one of the most valuable facilities in the world. At any moment, his enemies could band together to kill him. If it weren’t for the Dreadgods. All four are empowered and unleashed, rampaging through Cradle, and grudges old and new must be set aside. The Monarchs need every capable fighter to help them defend their territory.

Revisado: 07-16-22
Another masterful story. After fighting a dreadgod there wasn’t much else the story could do without going to near planet destroying fights. There is still plenty for Lindon and Yerin to discover and do. Loved the book and the stakes do raise. Can’t wait for the final entry of the story.

With his home finally secure, Lindon delves deep into the ancient labyrinth, seeking long-lost Soulsmithing knowledge and the secret to destroying the Dreadgods. Monarchs plot against him and against each other, unaware of the threats gathering in realms beyond. Far above Lindon and the Monarchs and the Dreadgods, another war is waged. This book was great, not my favorite of the series but probably in the top 3. Wonderful book that brings a long story arc to a close, and gets ready to start the next. Lindon, Yerin, Mercy, Orthos, little Blue, Zeal, and Eithan all grow and their characters are just great.
Wonderful performance by Travis as always. Can't wait to see what comes next!

Enjoyable second installment
Revisado: 09-21-21
My one and only gripe about this book is when Jim breaks the 4th wall and makes snide remarks to the reader. Other than that its a solid 5/5 so i knocked it down.
If you liked the first one this book builds on that. They travel to a new location and we get to see more Qi techniques and technologies. Jim gains some progress in his cultivation but not as much as I would have liked.
Overall great book and excited for the next one.
