Wonderful and Inspiring
Revisado: 07-02-24
This story truly touched my heart. Especially as I see the same thing currently happening in the Christian church in the USA. We are straying away from God’s teaching as we strive to appease the liberal agenda. Anything goes as long as the people are coming to church with their money.

Historia
In late March 1944, as Stalin’s forces push into Ukraine, young Emil and Adeline Martel must make a terrible decision: Do they wait for the Soviet bear’s intrusion and risk being sent to Siberia? Or do they reluctantly follow the wolves - murderous Nazi officers who have pledged to protect “pure-blood” Germans? The Martels are one of many families of German heritage whose ancestors have farmed in Ukraine for more than a century.

A wonderful story
Revisado: 02-18-24
I am a descendent of an ethnic German family that was forced off of their farm in Poland. My Grandmother told stories about the Russian soldiers taking all of their livestock including their beloved cow. She told us about traveling at night and sleeping in haystacks during the day. They had to leave her older sister, Anastasia behind because she had turned 18 years old before they were able to get passage to America. The most moving story was how hard they cried with tears of joy when they saw the Statue of Liberty for the first time.
My father was born in the USA. We are all Lutherans and live all over this wonderful country. The United States of America.

Historia
January 1946: London is emerging from the shadow of the Second World War, and writer Juliet Ashton is looking for her next book subject. Who could imagine that she would find it in a letter from a man she’s never met, a native of the island of Guernsey, who has come across her name written inside a book by Charles Lamb.... As Juliet and her new correspondent exchange letters, Juliet is drawn into the world of this man and his friends - and what a wonderfully eccentric world it is.

I liked the movie version better
Revisado: 03-30-23
I understand the concept of it being written as a series of letters but for me it left the story line flat. Just like text messages are flat and without emotion.
The movie version allowed the characters to develop and storyline to be much more interesting.

Historia
When a man’s naked corpse is found strapped to a waterwheel, newly appointed Inspector Haze is called upon to investigate the crime. With the help of American surgeon Captain Redmond, he delves into the life of Frank Darrow, a man who inspired such hatred, his mere death wasn’t enough to satisfy his killer. Finding few clues and no obvious motive for the murder, Redmond and Haze must peel away the layers of Frank Darrow’s relationships to get to the shocking truth, while also coming to terms with unexpected developments in their own lives.

The story line is progressing but…
Revisado: 02-17-23
I am continuing to enjoy the series. I little too much repetitive reviewing of the main characters history but still much better than other authors.
A bit of gratuitous sex but not to the point that I was completely turned off. I listen on Audible and hate having to stop what I am doing to skip ahead. Which is what I have had to do with other authors.
I find the series interesting and I like the historical setting

Historia
When the body of a young woman is found near the ruins of a haunted abbey, everyone assumes she died of fright. A postmortem examination tells a different story. Not only was Elizabeth Barrett poisoned, but the lethal dose of cyanide must have been administered by someone close to her - someone she trusted, who may have known her secret. As Captain Redmond and Constable Haze delve into the victim's seemingly ordinary life, they learn she wasn't the proper, biddable wife everyone believed her to be.

Revisado: 02-16-23
This is going to be a great series. I like being able listen to a book that doesn’t constantly repeat the background of the main characters over and over. I also very much appreciate the fact that blow by blow sex acts and foul language are not in the book. My imagination is sufficient. I look forward to listening to the entire series

Well written historical book
Revisado: 02-14-23
A well written historical book that combines American and British culture in the late 1800’s.
I enjoyed the interactions as the two cultures met and friendships were formed. I look forward to more books by this author

For the past 12 years, she’s hidden from a nightmarish past, but with every passing day, her scars fade, and her heart grows lighter. Now, for the first time in her life, she looks forward to her future. She’s happy. Then she finds the body. Someone shot the victim in her chest and left her to die in a cheap motel. Joe knew her well. She grew up with her. They were sisters, of a sort.

A good story. Not your typical police stirrup
Revisado: 01-15-23
The premise is okay. Definitely a different approach to a police/murder case
Unfortunately like so many authors, the same background story keeps being repeated over and over again. It adds nothing to the story and after awhile because annoying.
Since the basic story is good, I endured the repetition and managed to get through the entire book. A little bit of a surprise ending.

Historia
Jolene Hartgrave, here! I went from being a top dog lawyer to a hangdog pet psychic in the ruff part of town, all thanks to a pesky curse that gave me the gift of gabbing with animals. But my luck is finally looking up. I’ve teamed up with a hottie police officer and his snarky, overprotective German shepherd to catch criminals. From a murdered fashion icon spinning a web of lies to the killed curator of an occult museum, I’m doggedly helping the police bring the bad guys to justice.

Main character is shallow and constantly repeating her storyline
Revisado: 01-04-23
Jolene is supposed to be able to understand and speak to animals. Yet she has no empathy for animals. Especially Daisy the police dog who she teases and deliberately goes out of her way to upset.
At the same time, Jolene repeats the circumstances of her situation over and over. To the point that the story becomes redundant and boring. I got through the first book only to find that this is exactly how the second book continues. Self absorbed, pity party Jolene repeating her story line while the premise of the book moves at a snail’s pace. Definitely time to move on to a better author and a narrator that shouts more than she relates the story.

Historia
Ex-crime reporter Leonard Blaylock spends his days on an unusual hobby, developing strangers’ forgotten and discarded rolls of film. He loves the small mysteries the photographs reveal to him. Then Leonard finds something no one would ever expect, or want, to see captured on film—the murder of a young woman. But that’s impossible, because the woman is already dead. Leonard was there when it happened five years earlier.
