Historia
Praised by Newsweek as a "compelling read" and Library Journal as "accessible and down-to-earth", Dale McGowan’s Parenting Beyond Belief offered freethinking parents everywhere a compassionate introduction to raising caring, ethical children without religious guidance. Now, for the more than 40 million people in the United States who identify themselves as nonreligious, Raising Freethinkers offers solutions to the unique challenges secular parents face and provides specific answers to common questions, as well as over 100 activities for both parents and their children.

A great place to start the journey of non-religious parenting
Revisado: 10-19-23
I found this book, very helpful in learning some of the topics that are necessary for our family as we begin the process of raising a child without religion, while at the same time, having the child be religiously literate.

Historia
In this “vital, necessary, and beautiful book” (Michael Eric Dyson), antiracist educator Robin DiAngelo deftly illuminates the phenomenon of white fragility and “allows us to understand racism as a practice not restricted to 'bad people'" (Claudia Rankine). Referring to the defensive moves white people make when challenged racially, white fragility is characterized by emotions such as anger, fear, and guilt and by behaviors including argumentation and silence. These behaviors, in turn, function to reinstate white racial equilibrium and prevent meaningful cross-racial dialogue.

Historia
There is nothing more important than beating Donald Trump in 2020, but defeating Trump is just the start of this timely book. Un-Trumping America offers readers three critical insights: first, Trump is not an aberration, but rather the logical extension of the modern Republican Party; second, how Democrats can defeat Trump in 2020; and third, preventing the likes of Trump from ever happening again with a plan to fix democracy.

Necessary & Painful
Revisado: 05-18-20
This was a hard listen. Pfeiffer does a masterful job of giving it to me straight, giving me a moment to stay my heart, and continue on the road to redemption. I am a progressive, I’m no fan of centrist Obama, however I am a fan of Obama’s deference for the rule of law. This is a worthy read, a thought exercise. And a necessary pill to swallow.

The materiel is deep
Revisado: 04-16-19
This is incredible powerful material. Setting aside blocks of time to take the information in was crucial to allowing it to really penetrate the subconscious. This is not for the meek or casual listener. It is very worth the time of those who undertake the study!

Historia
We humans tend to get in our own way time and time again - whether it comes to not speaking up for ourselves, going back to bad romantic partners, our umpteenth diet, or engaging in any of a range of bad habits we just can’t seem to shake. In Rewire, renowned psychotherapist Richard O’Connor, PhD, reveals why our bad habits die so hard. We have two brains - one a thoughtful, conscious, deliberative self, and the other an automatic self that does most of the work without our attention.
