Time for a cross break

I loved Alex Cross, I've seen listened to all the book and seen all the movies and tv show, so i consoder myself a fan.
but i can't be the only one who thinks the story quality / adventures of cross has been sub par for the past 6 to 10 books. while trying to up the stakes it makes it less believable.
the whole M debacle has Long over stayed it's welcome.
I think it's beyond time for Alex to go back to basics and just deal with stories that drew us to him to begin with.
with all the books Patterson puts out maybe give cross a year or two off to get a STORY worthy of " Alex Cross " and for the love of everything don't let it be cross stops a nuke, or cross in space.

I know that Eric hasn't been himself since... well you know (no spoilers) but he has been acting so out of character, and I know that's the point to a degree. but for me in this book more than before, hes unlikeable.

10 books late, 1 story short

Am i the only one who misses the good old days of just tracking down a crazed serial killer? is it just me or does saving the country from terrorists... it just doesn't fit with alex Cross or its cast of characters.

I have wanted a solo John Samson story since book 6 in the serie. However, I didn't want a John Samson saves the country from its self storyline for his first book.
I don't like the mentality of go bigger in the next book because all that's left is saving the country from a nuke and Alex or Samson having to zip line into a secret military base to enter the nuke disarm codes that Ned provided.
stick to the basics, and that's the family (Nana momma mainly), the killer, and the family interaction with Alex and Samson.

it's been what felt like forever to find another story up to par with the likes of Harry Dresden. book 1 in this series has done just that for me, I'm very interested in where the story goes from here.

Easily the worst yet

if you have made it this far in the series maybe you too could feel the same way. cross should of died and his family for the choices he makes in this book.

its frustrating how he's constantly saying how could this happen to my family (throughout the series)

and the epilogue that ties everything up with a nice bow with just a, oh by the way I did all this detective work that is going to go un-written and would have been. probably, more interesting than the material you just read up till that point.

it was so bad I'm on the fence about giving it an alternate ending, cross dies in Africa. and the series ends there.

(yes I'm a fan of the series, which is why its frustrating. this "normal" detective foils danger that topples governments.. what's next... cross vs demone from the underworld?! keep it local... keep it believably)

One of the better stories

first off... the audio effects just took me out of the moment. if your not going to use it throughout the entire story dont pick and choose some scenes where you do.
story was one of the better stories since kiss the girls.
I wonder if Sampson gets his own book... he deserves it.

Court room drama

liked the story for the first half of the book, I liked the concept of this one a lot. the 2nd half (the whole court room drama) shouldn't not have been so long would of been better if it was 2 chapters and used that to expand more on the game.
this book was better than cat and mouse though imo

A to part story with neither fulfilling their potential. both parts could have easily filled a whole book by themselves.
while I do like the series, book 4 is the weakest of them so far.
(also it was a hit and miss with the readers)
