Female Narration ruined it. Couldn’t finish

I am a super avid listener and reader. I read for entertainment and I have only ever left a small handful of reviews. That is why my review should really be considered. I wasted a credit on this audiobook and I couldn’t get past the female narration. It was absolutely horrible. The male wasn’t great but I would have finished book if his narration was the only setback. He kind of at times would use an accent and when he did it was not Italian. It also did not stay consistent it varied and never stayed with for longer than a single sentence.
I did think the story had potential and as I stated I read/listen for entertainment. I never would do a review on subject bc I feel you shop for what you like and you were already considering this book bc of subject/theme. So it all came down to the terrible narration of the female. So montone, so low and did not match emotions or attitude. It was whiney but not so in pitch terms just the way she stated or finished sentence she left that tone of whining. The female narrator left me frustrated and annoyed. And I really kept trying to stick with it.
I wish there was a way to get a refund of my credit, since I could not listen very long to the book.
I did go to my kindle app and I borrowed the book set with the first 3 books in this series. It is free in kindle unlimited. I have feeling that I will enjoy the books with my own internal character voices. I couldn’t even try the next in series on audio bc they used the same female narrator. I have made a note of this narrator so I don’t ever make the mistake of purchasing an audio read by her.

You know the story where the hero comes in and saves the day, rescuing the heroine right in the nick of time? This isn't that story. Instead of a knight in shining armor, he's a sexy, tatted-up Bratva boss with a reputation for being brutal and fierce. Vasily finds me after I've already been brought to my lowest—broken by cruel men until I barely recognize myself. He doesn't offer me salvation. He offers me protection and revenge. And I gladly take it. Because I don't need a knight in shining armor. I need a villain who doesn't mind getting his hands dirty.

Dark w/ TW but also wholesome?

Dark, Mafia, Romance check, check, check.

There is sexual trauma in this book. The victim does not get consumed or dwell on what has happened to her. She is pretty strong for what she was thrown into and does see through it fairly quickly. It moves along and doesn’t drag out and repeat unnecessarily. Of course a Dark, Strong, Handsome Mafia Boss, saving the day probably has a lot to do with her strength to move on and be open to good things. Couple was pretty quick to fall in love but it wasn’t anything that you would lose any focus on the story over.
Overall a great book great narration by both male and female narrators. Might have been weak in the male accents but did not take away or distract from enjoying this book. I guess this review might be a little vague but didn’t want to throw in spoilers. What you need to know is that it is totally worth buying/credit. I paid for this book it was not gifted. Now I need to go so I can get started on Book 2!!

There is nothing “dark” about this book! So frustrated I bought this it was not free. There were no reviews for me to read so I went by the description and it was not at all what it was labeled as. The weakest mafia EVER he continuously apologized and felt bad and was sorry never told of any real mafia doing. Just hints. And then in same breathe hints to doing good.
And the narrators were awful! The female had stupid voices like haughty torture snotty voice and was dry dry dry! I cringed anytime she had to try to do another character. And the male was way way to soft and young sounding. Not a badass mafia for a “dark” mafia romance. Oh wait it wasn’t a dark mafia romance so for a contemporary romance he would fit fine I guess.
Let it be known I have never written a review before but I listen and read so many books that I do rely on them and since this audiobook did not have one, I had to write this so anyone looking for a “dark mafia romance”? You need to know THIS IS NOT ONE!! Not dark and the weakest lamest mafia I’ve ever read or listen to!
