really really liked this one
Revisado: 01-20-22
This was not a cookie cutter romance with typical meet cute. Thus was a moving story with characters that were flawed but interesting. The plot worked and was placed well. There were some super sad parts, but they fit the story and were told with realism and relatable emotions.

Historia
Bea Schumacher is a devastatingly stylish plus-size fashion blogger who has amazing friends, a devoted family, legions of Insta followers—and a massively broken heart. Like the rest of America, Bea indulges in her weekly obsession: the hit reality show Main Squeeze. The fantasy dates! The kiss-off rejections! The surprising amount of guys named Chad! But Bea is sick and tired of the lack of body diversity on the show. Since when is being a size zero a prerequisite for getting engaged on television?

Loved this!
Revisado: 08-24-21
Was not sure if I would like this "plus-sized romance" because this can easily become a trope. But I felt Bea's confidence and insecurity were both relatable and honest. And truthfully we all seek out what we secretly feel we deserve in relationships, no matter our size. Narrator did an excellent job distinguishing the different voices, which I am sure was a bit of a challenge. Recommend this audiobook!

Wow!
Revisado: 08-13-21
This is a very captivating and nuanced romance. I love that the characters were flawed and had to go through things. I also enjoyed the time jumping storytelling, but I will say that it was difficult to follow on the audiobook. I think reading it on paper would have been easier in that aspect. The voice performance was great though!

Historia
Oliver Clock has everything arranged just so. A steady job running the family funeral parlour. A fridge stocked with ready meals. A drawer full of colour-coded socks. A plan (of sorts) to stay trim enough for a standard-sized coffin. And in florist Marie, he’s even found the love of his life - not that she’s aware of it. When a terrible tragedy takes Marie out of his life but leaves him with her private journal, he discovers too late that she secretly loved him back. Faced now with a fast-approaching fortieth birthday, Oliver resolves to open himself up to love.

Just a dull story to me
Revisado: 03-18-21
This book just dragged for me. Lots of inner dialog, and only a little action. The performance was excellent, and characters were good. just needed more plot.

Historia
Can you fall in love like they do in the movies? It's Evie Summers' job to find out. Because if she can't convince her film agency's biggest client, Ezra Chester, to write the romantic-comedy screenplay he owes producers, her career will be over. The catch? He thinks rom-coms are unrealistic - and he'll only put pen to paper if Evie shows him that it's possible to meet a man in real life the way it happens on the big screen. Cynical Evie might not believe in happily ever after, but she'll do what it takes to save the job that's been her lifeline.

cute story. main character was a little daft
Revisado: 01-23-21
The premise and story played out well with good dialog and funny circumstances. The characters were likeable, but the main character seemed so oblivious during the whole book. it seemed everything had to be spelled out for her. Other than that, it was cute. The performance was excellent.

Just ok for me
Revisado: 07-28-20
The story didn't seem that interesting for me. The Brazilian family dynamics, language, and food seemed a bit forced into the story, and were not relatable for me.
Also, the male narrator has an excellent male voice, but his female voices were not good and were very distracting.

Michael Pollan, known for his best-selling nonfiction audio, including The Omnivores Dilemma and How to Change Your Mind, conceived and wrote Caffeine: How Caffeine Created the Modern World as an Audible Original. In this controversial and exciting listen, Pollan explores caffeine’s power as the most-used drug in the world - and the only one we give to children (in soda pop) as a treat.

Very interesting
Revisado: 05-02-20
An interesting and insightful study of caffeine and coffee including some history and chemical descriptions. I am not a coffee drinker, but still found it interesting. I was hoping for more on the soda delivery method of caffeine.. there is very little on this topic. Author/narrator was very good. I also enjoyed that these piece wasn't vilifying caffeine but giving a more balanced approach.

Historia
More than 15 years after the events of The Handmaid's Tale, the theocratic regime of the Republic of Gilead maintains its grip on power, but there are signs it is beginning to rot from within. At this crucial moment, the lives of three radically different women converge, with potentially explosive results. Two have grown up as part of the first generation to come of age in the new order. The testimonies of these two young women are joined by a third: Aunt Lydia. Her complex past and uncertain future unfold in surprising and pivotal ways.

Atwood is just one odd the best!
Revisado: 10-18-19
The Handmaid's Tale is once of my all time favorites, and I was scared of the inevitable disappointment of a sequel to a book that was intended to stand alone.
However, Atwood handled this novel with intrigue, graceful language, and slowly revealing plot. I enjoyed this book very much.
The narrators were also excellent.

Historia
From the New York Times best-selling author of Me Before You and One Plus One, a surprising and moving romance set in an old-fashioned seaside town on the verge of unwelcome change. Liza McCullen will never fully escape her past. But the unspoiled beaches and tight-knit community of Silver Bay offer the freedom and safety she craves - if not for herself, then for her young daughter, Hannah. That is, until Mike Dormer arrives as a guest in her aunt's hotel.

Slow start but it got better
Revisado: 09-26-19
They performance was well done. And because the story is set in Australia, and because if the group of intertwined characters, this reminded me a lot of a Lianne Moriarty novel. Not as amazing as Me Before You, but a good read anyway.

Historia
Some say love can be an addiction. Others say it's the thing that makes life worth living. Let me tell you everything I know about love...Love isn't patient, love isn't kind. Love is a game, a chase. A thrill. Love is wild and war-like, and every man and woman must fight for themselves. At least that's how it was for me. A high-priced virgin call girl by the time I started college, I was addicted to love and to sex. Even though I've never had either. I controlled love, played it, and held the world in the palm of my hands.
