Totally phoned in
Revisado: 09-08-24
This really felt like a novel that was written in order to capitalize on the success of the prequel. Problem is, if there was a story to tell, this was not that. Boring, stilted, pointless

Historia
Natalie and Neil everything they could want: a stylish London house, two high-flying careers, a close-knit group of friends and family. And best of all: an ideal marriage. Having children, they’ve agreed, would only disrupt their carefree lives. But then Neil turns thirty-five, and suddenly he’s longing for a baby. However, Nat has not had a similar change of heart. As they no longer agree on this fundamental issue, their once perfect relationship starts to crumble. Nat starts to think about her exes and wonders if one of the men she has loved in the past can offer her a future.

Historia
New York City, 1956: Nineteen-year-old Marion Brooks knows she should be happy. Her high school sweetheart is about to propose and sweep her off to the life everyone has always expected they’d have together: a quiet house in the suburbs, Marion staying home to raise their future children. But instead, Marion finds herself feeling trapped. So when she comes across an opportunity to audition for the famous Radio City Rockettes—the glamorous precision-dancing troupe—she jumps at the chance to exchange her predictable future for the dazzling life of a performer.

Amazing research but forced story
Revisado: 07-06-23
I d finitely recommend reading the book vs listening to it as one of the narrators is terribly awkward and stilted. Even so, I live Fiona Davis and I appreciate the hard work that went into the research for this novel. I’m really not happy to say this but the story and it’s characters were so obviously popped in so that the author could relay the history of the time and place. Unfortunately, that’s not what a novel is for. I can just as easily okie through the archives of the NYPL as Ms Davis did and accomplish the same thing.

Historia
When a body is found buried near the desolate forest road of Kellers Way, Detective Melanie Carter must identify the victim if she is to have any chance of finding the killer. That's no easy task with fragmentary evidence from a crime committed years earlier and a conspiracy of silence from anyone who might have information. The one person who may be able to help is Julie West.

Gripping but flawed
Revisado: 07-04-23
I would recommend the novel but I have my issues with the resolution. I think the author was super close to making a case for her premise (maybe she did and her efforts got edited, hard to say). The main character’s obsession with another character should have been left out altogether.
