Susan Casey is our premiere chronicler of the aquatic world. For The Underworld she traversed the globe, joining scientists and explorers on dives to the deepest places on the planet, interviewing the marine geologists, marine biologists, and oceanographers who are searching for knowledge in this vast unseen realm. She takes us on a fascinating journey through the history of deep-sea exploration, from the myths and legends of the ancient world to storied shipwrecks we can now reach on the bottom.

The core tenets of Economics
Revisado: 01-18-24
Must read for anyone wanting to understand how the economy and politics work. It is long, but very thorough education in micro and macro economics. Americans looking at the 2024 election would be wise to read this to understand why both parties economic policies are flawed.

Timeless wisdom and wit
Revisado: 12-28-23
This book should be required reading for every middle school student in America and beyond. If kids understood the magic of so much of what Munger teaches, they could alter the trajectories of their lives for the material benefit of themselves and the world. I am confident I will read this book many times over and take away new insights every time. RIP, Charlie Munger.

A must read in light of current geopolitics
Revisado: 07-01-21
This is a gripping fictional story that highlights how personal and national hubris, intelligence failures and communications breakdowns lead to existential risk for all of humanity. It is a wakeup call to thinking people everywhere, that regardless of societally imposed differences, we are really all in this together. The story shows why it is incredibly dangerous to rely on armed conflict escalation to resolve differences between countries. The authors' facility with the institutional and personal mindsets that impact military and geopolitical decisions make the book completely believable throughout.
