Her mum and stepdad are fine, but the thought of spending another holiday with her awful stepsister Becca is enough to make a Scrooge out of anyone. When Becca calls to let her know about the dreamy pilot she's bringing to Christmas lunch, Julia finally snaps and does something very silly.

A Great Novel for the Holidays

The main character, Julia, is so real and enjoyable I can't help but to cheer her on. A good book that moves the story line along with a few "didn't see that coming" moments along the way. Truly wish it had been longer. But perhaps there is a sequel in the works???

This book caught and held my attention from the first few pages. I was so engrossed in the story and it was hard to put down. This narrator is easy to listen to and really brings the story to life. Can't wait for the rest of the series.

Mystery and Suspense to Keep You Guessing

For me chapter one seemed to drag a bit. I like a book that immediately grabs my attention and leaves me wanting more. But I will say that after the first chapter I was hooked. The first chapter gives kind of a "history" of the main characters so you are quickly up to speed. Overall I felt this was an excellent book with plenty of suspense and moments to get your heart racing. I appreciate the lack of curse words that seem so common in today's society. I am an animal lover through and through so I loved Ginny and her compassion for all of the animals in her care. This book is well written and definitely keeps you on the edge of your seat. The narrator also did a fabulous job of reading and making the characters come to life.
