Fun! Fun! Fun!
Revisado: 06-20-20
I loved ♥ this book! The characters are rich in description, color character and disposition...love the loveable , fear the creepy and mean ones and weep with the vulnerable ones. It's been a long time since I have laughed 😆 outloud at a book. Thank you Ms Roberts for returning me to the pleasure of reading 📚 an entertaining story. Further the narrator is absolutely fantastic and as we all know, a rich narration enhances the joy of "reading" an audible book .

Historia
At the end of the Second World War, Cyril Conroy combines luck and a single canny investment to begin an enormous real estate empire, propelling his family from poverty to enormous wealth. His first order of business is to buy the Dutch House, a lavish estate in the suburbs outside of Philadelphia. Meant as a surprise for his wife, the house sets in motion the undoing of everyone he loves. The story is told by Cyril’s son Danny, as he and his older sister, the brilliantly acerbic and self-assured Maeve, are exiled from the house where they grew up by their stepmother.

Tom Hanks is fabulous
Revisado: 03-09-20
I loved listening to this book. Tom Hanks makes this book an audible delight in that, this is a simple story which could be boring. The book certainly describes the brother sister relationship in a rich and positive way; again and again. Hanks performance makes this story believable, tender and funny.

Historia
Love, Lucy is the valentine Lucille Ball left for her fans—a warm, wise, and witty memoir written by Lucy herself. The legendary star of the classic sitcom I Love Lucy was at the pinnacle of her success when she sat down to record the story of her life. No comedienne had made America laugh so hard, no television actress had made the leap from radio and B movies to become one of the world’s best-loved performers. This is her story—in her own words.

I love these Lucilles
Revisado: 11-16-19
Lucy Arnaz has given us a rich and loving translation of her mother's autobiography. Her narration is flawless. I believe if her mother knew this "memoir " would become public , she would have been "over the moon" to hear her daughter's narration. I believe this is an accidental autobiography. I believe Lucille Ball wrote this story of her life for personal reflections and/or other personal reasons. This book gave me a picture of a woman who recognizes and appreciates the blessings and joy's of her lifetime, while admitting and recognizing painful and unhappy inevitibilities of infallible choices. I would recommend this book to everyone who has a grace filled heart towards really good people, faced with seemingly insurmountable challenges, who believe in the power of love to survive.

best of three
Revisado: 09-09-19
I have nenjoyed the first three books in this series very much.💖 This book #3 just went to a deeper place. I cared very much for the characters and I felt the author did too. The heartbreaking history of this period in our country was handled without overwhelming the reader with politics and circumstances but with a clear purpose of moving the story line forward and consideration for the integrity of the characters.

not my kind of story
Revisado: 01-10-19
didn't finish it....simply not my genre! Adult content means something much less to you than to me. I am an adult but I would have benefitted by a more honest description. All adults are not of the same persuasion as you described in your summary. I found this adult subject matter offensive and beyond your usual warning of "be advised, this book includes adult....blah, blah, blah....I didn't pay for this but I would like to delete it from my library . so embarrassed by having this title there.

California born loves New York
Revisado: 11-16-18
I loved this book! I know nothing about the history of New York. I am a California Native and I found this story absolutely compelling. I believe that people that come from New York would be over the moon about this historical perspective on the history of our Beloved Country and how the city of New York played such and important part of our history. I truly love this book for the information it provided on our history and for the sensitive way in which this author handled difficult political conflicts and the way it impacted specific tender and delicate conflicts that a rose during development of the United States of America.

Why we think it’s a great listen: Never before has an author’s narration of his fiction been so important to fully grasping the book’s impact and global implications. Taking us from Afghanistan in the final days of its monarchy to the present, The Kite Runner is the unforgettable story of the friendship between two boys growing up in Kabul. Their intertwined lives, and their fates, reflect the eventual tragedy of the world around them.

Disappointing
Revisado: 04-15-18
I am in the habit of reading reviews before I make final decisions on books. The reviews for this book we're glowing from the storyline through the narrator. I found this story to be a highly personal account of one family. Although there was mention of the Communists and the Taliban, there was very little factual information to encourage my sympathy for a cause. I found the main character to be difficult to like by way of his self importance, bordering often on pure selfishness. Unlike other reviewers, I found the narrator to be rather flat and boring at times. He needed to be more animated and left me feeling as though these people are not suitably responsive to human interaction. I found this narration to be dull. I will not be recommending this book to anyone. However, it has already done exceedingly well without me.

World War II Italy
Revisado: 11-16-17
Beneath the Starlit sky is a compelling true story of an amazing character who lived in Italy during the second World War. Mr Sullivan has written a heart-wrenching, heartwarming, graphically beautiful, knowledgeable book. I found the fact that many of the characters in this book were actual living people whom I am pleased to have "known" for this brief time. Actually, some are still living. I highly recommend this book to anyone who likes to read action, adventure, romantic and true to life stories.
