Informative without being too lengthy
Revisado: 02-19-21
After looking at many other books that were much longer, I picked this one because it was less than 2 hours.
It had everything I could learn without actually tasting anything. If you want to increase the your knowledge, instead of getting one of the longer books on the subject get this. If you still want to know more, listen to this again, there's more here than you'll be able to remember after a single reading.

2nd time listening to this, and still great
Revisado: 11-01-19
Author may have been a crazy cult leader, but man can he set the stage. Filled with electrifying moments and hard to take breaks. I finished this 40 hour epic in 4 days. Great cast also brought the production value to a whole other level.

Like a TV version of a Skippy/Joe story
Revisado: 07-10-19
This covers about half or a third of a normal Craig Alanson. Nagatha changed a lot, both in voice and as a character, but Skippy and Joe are still RC Bray and still kick ass. Production value is much higher, this makes up for the shorter running time.
The story takes place over just a couple weeks. If you liked this you may also like the Battlefield Earth audible, that also has high production value.

On the more realistic side
Revisado: 05-02-19
Many authors of this genre bend the laws of physics, aka magic. This is on the more believable side. No faster than light travel, no ridiculous space combat, basically none of the "magic" stuff that you commonly find in other books.
It's similar to The Day The Earth Stood Still, but takes place in the middle of the next century and the story launches after astroid miners encounter something alien. The role tech plays is less gimicky than in other stories, and much more creative.
