In this new collection of poems, his first in over seven years, Blanco continues to invite a conversation with all Americans. I never knew all that Truman accomplished.
Revisado: 09-29-15
What did you love best about Truman?
His integrity and common man stature.
Have you listened to any of Nelson Runger’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
First time. Good read.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
It made me remember the 40's and 50's. It also shed light on the fact that FDR did not orient Truman to anything including, the war, lend/lease program or the national economy...not one meeting before FDR died. Other books on FDR indicate that FDR picked Truman when FDR knew he was dieing because, in contrast to a 'common' President like Truman, FDR would look good. For all FDR accomplished, I was a little surprised at his concern for his legacy.
Any additional comments?
Long, but highly recommended. One should also read about the FDR years to get a perspective about what Truman faced his initial day in office.

Historia
As a child in small-town Oklahoma, Elizabeth Warren yearned to go to college and then become an elementary school teacher - an ambitious goal, given her family’s modest means. Early marriage and motherhood seemed to put even that dream out of reach, but 15 years later she was a distinguished law professor with a deep understanding of why people go bankrupt. Then came the phone call that changed her life: could she come to Washington, DC, to help advise Congress on rewriting the bankruptcy laws?

Timber for President?
Revisado: 08-21-14
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Ms. Warren presents some solid arguments for reforming big banks and lending institutions. And I believe these arguments should be debated prior to the election in '16. However, I do not think that Ms. Warren has the necessary broad political background nor international experience to claim the position of President. Her point of view must be heard and being a candidate will present the opportunity for her and Hillary to bring the issues in the book to the public's attention.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
It was good, but not that good.
