Lots of bad reviews talk about the anti-American propaganda. I’m an American, and the anti-American propaganda is right on point. Some of our people and politicians are down right deplorable. I work with them every day and the ethnocentrism, xenophobia and bigotry is palpable. That being said, we always do the right thing, once all other options are exhausted. So, there’s hope for us. If that’s what makes you not like the book, though, it’s probably because the shoe fits and a kicked dog will holler. The book is excellent.

Historia
It was one of the most searing images of the twentieth century: two young boys, two princes, walking behind their mother’s coffin as the world watched in sorrow—and horror. As Princess Diana was laid to rest, billions wondered what Prince William and Prince Harry must be thinking and feeling—and how their lives would play out from that point on.

Yes, it's a rare theater seat before the beauty and horror of life in the Royal Family. But it's more. It's a story of pain and ultimately growth, as we've all experienced, and for which we often learn to be quite grateful. I think His Royal Highness we come to be no less grateful for his journey. Great story.

Scanning trillions of different dimensions, Alexander finally finds a world that is reminiscent of the only time he was ever happy, back when he could play virtual reality games with his only friend. Only this new world isn't full of idyllic adventures and fantasy roleplaying. Instead, Alexander finds himself trapped in the middle of a city where monsters have ravaged the world and the only people alive struggle to survive.

Historia
A man. His ex-girlfriend's cat. A sadistic game show unlike anything in the universe: a dungeon crawl where survival depends on killing your prey in the most entertaining way possible. In a flash, every human-erected construction on Earth - from Buckingham Palace to the tiniest of sheds - collapses in a heap, sinking into the ground. The buildings and all the people inside have all been atomized and transformed into the dungeon: an 18-level labyrinth filled with traps, monsters, and loot.

Dungeon Crawler Carl is an excellent adventure. As good or sometimes better than my other favorite LitRPG, HWFWM. Carl and Jason are now my two go-to reads whenever I have some long downtime, because the time flies whenever immersed in these books. Thanks!!

It’s not easy making the career jump from office-supplies-store middle manager to heroic interdimensional adventurer. At least, Jason tries to be heroic, but it's hard to be good when all your powers are evil. He’ll face off against cannibals, cultists, wizards, monsters...and that’s just on the first day. He’s going to need courage, he’s going to need wit, and he’s going to need some magic powers of his own. But first, he’s going to need pants.

An Epic Adventure.
Revisado: 06-29-22
Just coming off Games of Thrones, and was looking for another magical adventure. My son told me about LitRPG’s and we stumbled on HWFM. Pleasantly surprised, and have been hooked ever since Jason found his first awakening stone. Love the duality of his evil powers wrapped in a caring, friendly character and his struggles for balance. And Heath Miller is a master ventriloquist, with the voices so pure, you can tell which characters are speaking, just by their unique voice. Looking forward to finding out how this ends. Bravo.

I LOVE Connelly, but ...
Revisado: 06-07-21
Michael never disappoints. I'm a bigger Bosch fan than Haller fan but I'm a huge Connelly fan, so I greedily consume it all. TLOI grips and squeezes your hand while it walks you through Haller's highs and lows as a murderer defendant. It slowly unravels the whodunnit without you noticing the mechanics of being told a story. I love that about Connelly.
But ...
"This wasn't work for a client. This was for me." Zero stars for that. A lawyer who doesn't put it all on the line when defending a client would know s/he doesn't have what it takes to defend him- or herself, and would be unlikely to do it. A lawyer who leaves it all on the field, every time, wouldn't say something that stupid.
I get the point Connelly is making - we all protect ourselves with vigor - but the misstep is crucial to character development. Haller is supposed to be the second kind of lawyer: maybe not an angel, but his clients are people who matter to him immensely. In developing his own defense, "This wasn't work for a client. This was for me" is not a place such a lawyer typically goes.
That's unlikely to matter to many. To those who know the difference, it's a huge stumble that takes away from the Haller we've come to know.

Historia
Someone has murdered euthanasia champion Dr. Eldon Mate - a self-styled Dr. Death responsible for scores of assisted suicides. In a burst of bloody irony, the killer chooses to dispatch the doctor in the back of Mate's own suicide van, hooking him up to the killing apparatus dubbed "the Humanitron" - and adding some butchering touches of his own. The case is assigned to veteran LAPD homicide detective Milo Sturgis, who turns once again to his friend Dr. Alex Delaware.

Good Guy vs Bad Guy
Revisado: 10-18-14
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Maybe. I liked the storyline. As Stephen King books go, this one is more in line with traditional crime drama. No supernatural stuff. My critique is that it's pretty predictable. The real value here, however, lies in the telling of the story, which is very well done. I liked his character development. He made the characters real; they were people I could care about. I found myself caught up in their lives. Overall, I would have to say overall I liked it.
