Historia
In The Small and the Mighty, Sharon McMahon proves that the most remarkable Americans are often ordinary people who didn’t make it into the textbooks. Not the presidents, but the telephone operators. Not the aristocrats, but the schoolteachers. Through meticulous research, she discovers history’s unsung characters and brings their rich, riveting stories to light for the first time.

Amazing Stories
Revisado: 10-07-24
What amazing stories of people who changed the course of history but never made it into our textbooks. I loved every minute of this book. And listening to Sharon read the book was icing on the cake.

In October 1997, the town of Ringgold, Georgia, was shaken by reports of a murder in its midst. A dead woman was found in Alvin Ridley's house—and even more shockingly, she was the wife no one knew he had.

Such a Touching Story of a Misunderstood Man
Revisado: 08-22-24
The story was so compelling. Sometimes the media firestorm that happens around a case is just a strange or misunderstood individual.

Historia
In The Lost Family, journalist Libby Copeland investigates what happens when we embark on a vast social experiment with little understanding of the ramifications. Copeland explores the culture of genealogy buffs, the science of DNA, and the business of companies like Ancestry and 23andMe, all while tracing the story of one woman, her unusual results, and a relentless methodical drive for answers that becomes a thoroughly modern genetic detective story.

So amazing
Revisado: 12-05-21
I loved this book. Everything about this book. I would form an opinion just to realize that nothing is as simple as it seems and there are always so many different ways to look at a situation. The stories were just amazing.

Historia
On July 20, 2012 in Aurora, Colorado, a man in dark body armor and a gas mask entered a midnight premiere of The Dark Knight Rises with a tactical shotgun, a high-capacity assault rifle, and a sidearm. Soon twelve were dead and fifty-eight were wounded. A Dark Night in Aurora uses the twenty-three hours of unredacted interview transcripts never seen by the public and Reid’s research to bring the listener inside the mind of a mass murderer. The result is chilling, gripping study of abnormal psychology and how a lovely boy named Jimmy became a killer.

A workmanlike effort, nothing especially groundbreaking to be found here.

Very Interesting Perspective on This Case
Revisado: 09-15-20
The whole story was very interesting. I lived right by the theatre when this happened and I knew people who were there (though not in that theatre). It was a very tragic event and the court case so many wished for death. This book shows just how complicated that process is and what was going through Holmes mind before and after.

Historia
In 2017, a routine network television investigation led to a story only whispered about: one of Hollywood’s most powerful producers was a predator, protected by fear, wealth, and a conspiracy of silence. As Farrow drew closer to the truth, shadowy operatives, from high-priced lawyers to elite war-hardened spies, mounted a secret campaign of intimidation, threatening his career, following his every move, and weaponizing an account of abuse in his own family.

One of the best books I have ever listened to
Revisado: 02-07-20
I am absolutely shocked at the content of this book. Ronan Farrow did a great service to society with out Harvey Weinstein and others. I would recommend this book to everyone as we as a society need to stop allowing these elitists to exist and prey upon those around them.
