Interesting but disappointing end

I was so into this book and then it just cut off and was done. So he just kills the tree of life and the whole book is over? What was the point of everything before that? I really liked the biblical and archaeological references but that kinda went out the door in the second book. This could have been so much better, I’m pretty bummed. I was excited to see where this was leading.
