Historia
The Garretts take their first and last family vacation in the summer of 1959. They hardly ever leave home, but in some ways they have never been farther apart. Mercy has trouble resisting the siren call of her aspirations to be a painter, which means less time keeping house for her husband, Robin. Their teenage daughters, steady Alice and boy-crazy Lily, could not have less in common.

Six characters in search of a story
Revisado: 05-10-22
I haven't read any Anne Tyler for a long time, and thought I would try this. I listened to the entire book (why I don't know.) The reader is very good. However, there is zero character development and no plot. I think Tyler means this as a description of the ordinary happenings in a fifty year marriage. I cannot recommend this book to anyone.

Captivating
Revisado: 08-04-18
One reviewer wrote that she felt Johanna Trollope was her personal novelist, and that's just the way I feel. Her characters and their situations and emotions are very real to me. I love her style of writing.
Samantha Bond does an incredible job of reading this book.
Usually I just listen to books while walking or driving. This one I had to finish just sitting around because I had to know what happened.

Historia
Finding a mysterious novel at her bedside plunges documentary filmmaker Catherine Ravenscroft into a living nightmare. Though ostensibly fiction, The Perfect Stranger recreates in vivid, unmistakable detail the terrible day she became hostage to a dark secret, a secret that only one other person knew - and that person is dead.

Entertaining

Great book on tape. Engrossing and beautifully and convincingly read. Compelling plot. I disagree with a reviewer who said characters were hard to relate to. I found Catherine to be very sympathetic.
