Historia
A member of the world-renowned Program on Negotiation at Harvard Law School introduces the powerful next-generation approach to negotiation. For many years, two approaches to negotiation have prevailed: the "win-win" method exemplified in Getting to Yes by Roger Fisher, William Ury, and Bruce Patton; and the hard-bargaining style of Herb Cohen's You Can Negotiate Anything. Now award-winning Harvard Business School professor Michael Wheeler provides a dynamic alternative to one-size-fits-all strategies that don't match real world realities.

Good story on negotiation
Revisado: 03-24-25
It has a lot of stories and less about principles. You read it and then you forgot most of the details. The biggest takeaway for me is to be flexible and expect the unexpected during negotiation. I think that’s the essence of negotiation, which you might be able to know just a few principles and the way you get good at it is only through practicing.

Historia
By synthesizing current research in the social sciences, Schwartz makes the counterintuitive case that eliminating choices can greatly reduce the stress, anxiety, and busyness of our lives. He offers eleven practical steps on how to limit choices to a manageable number, have the discipline to focus on the important ones and ignore the rest, and ultimately derive greater satisfaction from the choices you have to make.

Great book about essence of too many choices
Revisado: 01-30-25
It comprehensively talks about all kinds of costs and origin of the problem of too many choices. The biggest takeaway for me is that it shows scientifically that a satisfyser is a better strategy than a maximizer in the long run when making choices to achieve goals and ultimate happiness.

Good book for people want to build a community
Revisado: 01-14-25
It talks about why community is core of happiness and a great guide about how to build one. I am not 100% interested in building a community but agree on the power of it.

Comprehensive but examples are old
Revisado: 12-18-24
It’s really compressive that illustrate the idea of entry of barrier is the core of competitive advantage. The structure could be more clear. The examples are rather old so hard to resonate. Most important of all, not sure if this still applies to the high margin tech companies in recent decades or so. Not sure whether it brings any practical advice on how to find competitive advantages.

Historia
Careers are not linear, predictable ladders any longer; they are fluid trajectories. No matter our age, life stage, bank account balance, or seniority, we are all being asked to navigate career changes much more frequently than in years past. The average employee tenure in America is just four to five years, and even those roles change dramatically within that time. Our economy now demands that we create businesses and careers based on creativity, growth, and impact. In this dynamic world of work, the only move that matters is your next one.

Good detailed handbook for pivoting
Revisado: 10-12-24
Great structure and details about how to pivot. But it would be more useful to just go to the website and follow since a lot of details would be forgotten. The book’s core concept is very simple but have a lot of implementation details so better to go to website to use the structure on demand more easily.

Now, the co-founders of Axios have created an essential guide for communicating effectively and efficiently using Smart Brevity—think Strunk and White’s Elements of Style for the digital age.

core concept is good
Revisado: 10-12-24
Totally agree the communication style as smart brevity. But the content of applying it to all different domains seem to keep talking about the same thing over and over. It would better a tool or website than a book.

Historia
Today, burnout and depression are at record levels, driven by a combination of intense workplace competition, oppressively ubiquitous social media encouraging comparisons with others, the quest for elite credentials, and helicopter parenting. Society continually broadcasts the need to want more, and to be perfect. Gathering a wide range of contemporary evidence, Curran calls for both introspection and broader, societal change. He shows what we can do as individuals to resist the modern-day pressure to be perfect, and in so doing, win for ourselves a more purposeful and contented life.

Good intro on how perfectionism form but lack of good practices to fix it
Revisado: 09-04-24
Overall it’s a good book explaining the overall sense of the perfectionism. But it put too much emphasis on the broader social impact instead of introducing practical measures for any individual to overcome it.
