Great read!! What a romp to begin 2024!

Author Tom Strelich is either an idiot savant or a genius! Or BOTH! What a fun read (actually Audible listen). I am stunned by how a fantasmagorical contemporaneous yarn like Water Memory could be so unbelievable and thought provoking at the same time. If Water Memory were a drug I would be happily addicted. Thank you for crafting such a marvelous adventure story, Tom. I am diving into Dog Logic next.

Much Better than The Usual Epic SciFi Space Opera

Not your typical corporate greed vs. peasant uprising tale, loaded with every imaginable human motivation and filled with amazing quests and plot twists. I absolutely loved it. And the narration was incredible, rich in the distinct voices that really brought the principal characters to life. Well done!

I was really hoping for more from this book but couldn’t even finish it. Grumpy aging captain and an antique starship rush to save humanity from carnivorous spiders. The sole redeeming factor was the outstanding performance which kept me listening longer than the story warranted.

The libertarian ranting in book one is significantly toned down in book 2, so much so that I intend to continue reading the next couple of installments to see where the stories and characters go. The plot and character development in Hard Lessons is very well done. The political stuff was more muted and the book definitely benefits from it.

I don’t agree with the all the antiestablishment posturing but it was refreshing to experience an alternate political viewpoint for a change. Some of the diatribes would benefit from less coarseness however they do well define the principal characters in this alien invasion sci-fi romp. If you are sensitive to blunt opinions you’d better move on.

I love Jasper Scott books. This one didn’t disappoint but it was a bit more far fetched than usual. I would be interested in the sequel however to see where the storyline goes.

This was a very odd audiobook. My initial reaction was thinking I’d maybe shut it down after a couple of chapters. But, it captured my attention and gave me a new unique perspective about where life might be headed in a technology driven dystopian world.
