Historia
Ex-Army paratrooper Griffin “Fin” Brooks thought he left danger behind when his battlefield injuries forced him to pursue a new career in marine biology. But one fateful night off the coast of South Africa, a ship nearly crashes into him and his loyal golden retriever, Jacques. Not just any ship. A starship. Though its alien pilot is dead, the rare extraterrestrial animal inside is not. Fin learns the creature is being smuggled across the galaxy when a pair of interstellar visitors respond to the crash. But those same investigators accuse Fin and his dog of crimes he didn’t even know existed.

as my title says it pretty much sums up how poorly written this book is. I literally toward the end fast forwarded through multiple chapters and missed absolutely nothing because it goes into my numbing details

Historia
Ominous obelisks land on Earth with a single message: Join the games to give humanity a fighting chance to survive... Or roll over and die. Too bad for them, Warren isn't the rolling-over type. Cancer may be kicking Warren's a$$, but he's not about to let aliens destroy his home and everything he loves (which is mostly just his dog, Buck). Besides, what does he have to lose? Better to die with sword in hand, bleeding out from a head wound than in some hospital bed...

I seriously think a preteen boy wrote this book. with the constant penis jokes and shallow character development I wouldn't recommend this to anyone.

Historia
When a series of devastating terror attacks brought down the United States, Conor and Barb assumed they were safe in their compound. They had everything they needed. They were armed and highly trained. But then, Barb was kidnapped. The kidnappers didn’t know why Conor was known as The Mad Mick. They didn’t know the fear and respect his name invoked in the shadowy underworld of covert operations. They didn’t know that when it came to protecting his family, he was without conscience, without compassion, and without equal. But they would soon find out.

I had to stop listening
Revisado: 12-30-23
besides very poor character development the thing that bothered me the most about this book is the protagonist's daughter. the characters demand respect from everyone but show absolutely zero respect to other characters. the daughter Barb is billed as some badass but has emotional control problems yet people still put up with her. in the world the author created this is completely unrealistic. The daughter would have been murdered by somebody rightfully so because she's just a shitty person.

Historia
The thrilling conclusion to The Extinction Files is finally here! In 2003, the first human genome was sequenced. But the secrets it held were never revealed. The truth was discovered 30 years ago, almost by accident. Dr. Paul Kraus had spent his entire career searching for what he called humanity's lost tribes - human ancestors who had gone extinct. When Kraus compared the DNA samples of the lost tribes with our own, he found a pattern of changes: a code. At the time, the technology didn't exist to unravel what it meant. Kraus hid his work and disappeared.

what a disappointment
Revisado: 12-18-23
The story started with an interesting premise however this book quickly turns into a study of how not to get to the point. it seems like the author lacked any substance to write so they decided to spinn a three-way love story that took up in an inordinate amount of the book. Between pointless romance and characters dithering entire chapters I found myself fast forwarding a lot and not missing anything substantive.

alaxy. Humanity was slowly making their way out from Earth to the planets and asteroids of the Solar System, exploring and mining and founding colonies. The mining ship El Cavador is far out from Earth, in the deeps of the Kuiper Belt, beyond Pluto. Other mining ships, and the families that live on them, are few and far between this far out. So when El Cavador's telescopes pick up a fast-moving object coming in-system, it's hard to know what to make of it. It's massive and moving at a significant fraction of the speed of light.

if you like listening to whiny characters
Revisado: 08-21-23
I really tried to like this book. However between all the whiny characters (literally over half of every chapter is some character whinging about something) and the constantly changing narrators for no reason, I just couldn't get into it. there is only about 2 hours of worthwhile story in this book. The author reminds me of someone in high school trying to make a 500 word essay when they've only got 100 words worth of material.
The second one is just as bad.

Since then, the Earth’s nations have learned to work together, and they want to know more about the aliens who appeared, attacked, and vanished without a trace. The Americans have provided a new carrier. Chinese technology has made going after the invaders possible. And the Russians have developed a new control system that will give the craft never-before-seen capabilities. Mankind’s next war is upon us, and Uplink Squadron is the tip of the spear.

low rent top gun in space
Revisado: 02-13-23
I don't know what's more cringe with this book between the poorly researched descriptions of space combat, the pedestrian attempts at accents or that the author included bloopers at the end.

I really enjoyed this book. The technological aspect and slight sci-fi spin really makes it interesting. Using actual science instead of magical sci-fi plot armor is something I really find makes a Sci-Fi book worth reading.
And Detroit gets destroyed in the book so that's awesome!!

stop with the first book
Revisado: 12-20-22
So the first book is really good but the second book is obviously made by somebody that just wanted to get a paycheck without an idea of a decent storyline. There's about 3 hours of good content and the rest of it is characters bemoaning in minute detail whatever they're doing. The author simply wrote to put words on page to get it to a certain length. It kind of reminds me of a middle school essay.
I found myself fast forwarding a lot without missing any relevant details of the storyline.
