Historia
Jennette McCurdy was six years old when she had her first acting audition. Her mother’s dream was for her only daughter to become a star, and Jennette would do anything to make her mother happy. So she went along with what Mom called “calorie restriction." She endured extensive at-home makeovers while Mom chided, “Your eyelashes are invisible, okay? You think Dakota Fanning doesn’t tint hers?” She was even showered by Mom until age sixteen while sharing her diaries, email, and all her income. In I’m Glad My Mom Died, Jennette recounts all this in unflinching detail.

Heartbreakingly tragic and beautiful
Revisado: 11-13-22
I've always loved Jennette's work and her story is devasting but triumphant. The way she doesn't hold back and gives such details makes you ache for her even more. You cry with her pain, scream at her for her mistakes, and cheer and celebrate her victories and recovery. Definitely worth listening to having in my library. Thank you Ms. Mccurdy for being so open, raw, honest, and sharing your truth.

Shockingly Enjoyed
Revisado: 07-03-21
I got this because I love this author but was wary because of the subject. By the end I was loving the book and all the raw emotions and acts you could honestly see someone do after committing the murder of their own mother. I've already listened to it three times and find with each listen a new depth of emotion being portrayed by the author. It's raw and graphic but not too graphic. It's disturbing in a way that's not a turn off. But I feel it doesn't hold back and is honest, and that is what I truly enjoy about it.

Historia
Fascinated by our pervasive terror of dead bodies, mortician Caitlin Doughty set out to discover how other cultures care for their dead. In rural Indonesia, she observes a man clean and dress his grandfather's mummified body. Grandpa's mummy has lived in the family home for two years, where the family has maintained a warm and respectful relationship. She meets Bolivian natitas (cigarette-smoking, wish-granting human skulls) and introduces us to a Japanese kotsuage.

Informational and beautiful
Revisado: 06-13-21
Caitlin once again takes us on a beautiful and eye opening journey to experience death cultures and rituals around the world. By doing so she brings to the surface our fears of death as well as what we lose for not being apart of the burial and process after a love one passes away. I highly recommend all of her works and can't wait for more.

Definitely Listen at Higher Speed
Revisado: 05-11-21
The narrator made it a struggle to get through this book. In one moment he is fine and pleasant to listen to, then the next he is robotic and stiff, to the next where he is talking as if he is teaching a room of 3 year olds. I had to listen to it at 1.80x speed to be able to handle him. The story is a good one but they have way, way too many unnecessary details. I don't need to know all the stops a bus makes or all the past jobs of someone who worked in a shop one of the girls went to. If they cut out over two hours of fluff material and got a better narrator this would have definitely been a five star review.

No doubt this is his confession!
Revisado: 10-16-20
This book gives a haunting account to this shocking crime and the amount of detail it gives proves to me even more that OJ killed them. The way he portrays Nicole in the year leading up to her murder is sickening and you can just feel the loathe he has for her dripping off of him. He tries all he can to put her into a horrible light which to mean just adds more fuel to the "OJ did it" fire. This being the first big court case I ever remember I was always curious about what really happened and I fully believe this book has solved that riddle for me.

For the last 16 years, Sue Klebold, Dylan's mother, has lived with the indescribable grief and shame of that day. How could her child, the promising young man she had loved and raised, be responsible for such horror? And how, as his mother, had she not known something was wrong?

Heartbreaking and an eye opening mother's journey.
Revisado: 07-08-20
Being in high school when this happened I've often wonder about the lives of Dylan and Eric and now as a mother my thoughts have turn to what their mothers and families must have went through in the aftermath. This book is heartbreaking, raw, and an open view to Sue, her heartbreak, devastation wondering, questioning, and soul searching in the days, weeks, months, and years after her son took part in this tragedy. It's an eye opening extras to listen to and even learn from.

Historia
For 31 years, a monster terrorized the residents of Wichita, Kansas. A bloodthirsty serial killer, self-named "BTK" - for "bind them, torture them, kill them" - he slaughtered men, women, and children alike, eluding the police for decades while bragging of his grisly exploits to the media. The nation was shocked when the fiend who was finally apprehended turned out to be Dennis Rader - a friendly neighbor...a devoted husband...a helpful Boy Scout dad...the respected president of his church. Written by four award-winning crime reporters who covered the story for more than 20 years, Bind, Torture, Kill is the most intimate and complete account of the BTK nightmare

To much fluff but otherwise amazing!
Revisado: 06-02-20
It was a great story in regards to BTK and the investigation. But I felt that it went into way too much fluff and detail about the investigating officers and their personal lives in between the years of BTK's activity. I do appreciate having information and some details about the investigating officers but it began to feel more like an autobiography about them at times.
