Characters are well developed and the plot is interesting. The narrator does a good job even if some characters have annoying voices. Overall good.

Historia
Gracie Reed is doing just fine. Sure, she was fired by her overly “friendly” boss, and yes, she still hasn’t gotten her mother into the nursing home of their dreams, but she’s healthy, she’s (somewhat) happy, and she’s (mostly) holding it all together. But when a mysterious SUV pulls up beside her, revealing Chinese cinema's golden couple Wei Fangli and Sam Yao, Gracie’s world is turned on its head. The famous actress has a proposition: Due to their uncanny resemblance, Fangli wants Gracie to be her stand-in.

Couldn’t finish. Too negative and depressing
Revisado: 10-11-21
I couldn’t get past the first 4 chapters due to my personal feelings about alcohol and such negativity. It seemed to be well written as it really painted the alcoholic scenario quite vividly.

Historia
Fresh from a brief stay at a psych hospital, reporter Camille Preaker faces a troubling assignment: She must return to her tiny hometown to cover the murders of two preteen girls. For years, Camille has hardly spoken to her neurotic, hypochondriac mother or to the half-sister she barely knows: a beautiful 13-year-old with an eerie grip on the town. Now, installed in her old bedroom in her family's Victorian mansion, Camille finds herself identifying with the young victims - a bit too strongly.

Great author, sick story!
Revisado: 08-17-12
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
The first book I "heard" from Flynn was Gone Girl and I really liked it so I immediately bought Sharp Objects. Again the author is extremely skilled at telling a story but the story itself got me feeling sick and I almost couldn't finish it. I've heard plenty of stories that portray violence, abuse and despair but Sharp Objects is in a different category. If you don't mind murdered children, self mutilation, incest, sadism/masochism sex, drug and alcohol abuse then you will enjoy this book as the author knows her craft and the performer also did a good job.
Would you ever listen to anything by Gillian Flynn again?
Probably not, especially earlier stuff. I liked her last book so if she comes up with new stuff I might give it a try, otherwise I can't stomach another story like Sharp Objects.
Have you listened to any of Ann Marie Lee’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
She's a good performer.
If this book were a movie would you go see it?
ABSOLUTELY NOT!

OK Story poorly narrated
Revisado: 03-02-05
I started reading John Lutz backwards. I began with The Night Spider and THe Night Watcher and enjoyed these books very much. I looked for more titles by this author and stumbled upon Oops and Torch. Defenitely in a different league! Torch is an OK story; John Lutz is a good story teller. but his characters lacked conviction and substance. I don't know if this was due to the flat and boring performance of the narrator though. Overall it was OK and enjoyable
