Dewey Cox?
Revisado: 05-16-24
Unbroken Chain has to be the song that inspired the Dewey Cox LSD phase in the film Walk Hard. I'm aware that I sound like a hater but nothing could be further from the truth. I had the pleasure of hearing Phil sing this in Charlotte 95. The song that I remember the most people singing only had two chords. The entire Colosseum chanted...Fire...Fire on the mountain. Food for thought

Sweet Jane??
Revisado: 05-10-24
Really? You don't know what " sweet Jane" means? You guys talk about LDD use with impunity but walked around the real meaning of the "sweet Jane" lyric. AKA Mary Jane or POT. I don't means to sound like I didn't enjoy the episode because I did and highly recommend it.

From the legendary actor and best-selling author: a novel about the making of a star-studded, multimillion-dollar superhero action film...and the humble comic books that inspired it. Funny, touching, and wonderfully thought-provoking, while also capturing the changes in America and American culture since World War II.

Historia
In This Is All a Dream We Dreamed, two of the most well-respected chroniclers of the Dead, Blair Jackson and David Gans, reveal the band's story through the words of its members, their creative collaborators and peers, and a number of diverse fans, stitching together a multitude of voices into a seamless oral tapestry. Capturing the ebullient spirit at the group's core, Jackson and Gans weave together a musical saga that examines the music and subculture that developed into its own economy, touching fans from all walks of life.

I like the way the booked flowed
Revisado: 03-22-24
I found this book well written by the authors. Overall I am pleased with myself for purchasing this book and look forward to hearing it again. However, there is one particular option I had a hard time swallowing. Saying that the addition of a second drummer in the reason for the the musical decline over the years is simply absurd to me. You know, the second drummer who is responsible for creating that signature percussive sound of the Grateful Dead? Anybody with eyes and ears can tell why the music started to decline. You could hear it in his playing, you could hear it in his singing, and you could see it in his physical statue. as much as I loved Jerry, I refuse to dump his baggage on someone else

Historia
When Norm Macdonald, one of the greatest stand-up comics of all time, was approached to write a celebrity memoir, he flatly refused, calling the genre “one step below instruction manuals.” Norm then promptly took a two-year hiatus from stand-up comedy to live on a farm in northern Canada. When he emerged he had under his arm a manuscript, a genre-smashing book about comedy, tragedy, love, loss, war, and redemption. When asked if this was the celebrity memoir, Norm replied, “Call it anything you damn like.”

Historia
In 1984, at the age of 20, Duff McKagan left his native Seattle - partly to pursue music, but mainly to get away from a host of heroin overdoses then-decimating his closest group of friends in the local punk scene. In LA only a few weeks and still living in his car, he answered a want ad for a bass player placed by someone who identified himself only as "Slash." Soon after, the most dangerous band in the world was born. Guns N' Roses went on to sell more than 100 million albums worldwide.

Doesn’t feel genuine at times
Revisado: 07-23-22
The book wasn’t all that bad. This is before he started playing with Guns again. You can’t tell he is totally kissing Axles ass to probably get back in the band. He barely mentions Slash at all. Brags about how he takes Axles side in disputes with Slash. That’s the only part I didn’t like.

Historia
As lead singer and songwriter for the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Anthony Kiedis has lived life on the razor's edge. Much has been written about him, but until now we've only had his songs as clues to his experience from the inside. In Scar Tissue, Kiedis proves himself to be as compelling a memoirist as he is a lyricist, giving us a searingly honest account of the life from which his music has evolved.

It’s Worth Listening to
Revisado: 07-15-22
Overall I enjoyed listening to this book. There wasn’t any unexpected revaluations. I would have liked to heard more about his interaction with other bands. There is a lot of drug use detailed in this book. If that kind of thing bothers you, just don’t read it. I’ve read some of the other reviews on this site. They act so upset about all the doping and sex. It’s A book about Anthony Kiedis of the Red Hot Chili Peppers. What did they think they were gonna hear? Bible stories? Some folks act like they are so above it and no one is allowed to tell the truth. This is what reality is and it’s not always pretty. I would rather hear the ugly truth than a beautiful lie. The narrator doesn’t sound anything like Anthony. It wasn’t that bad so don’t believe the other reviews. At times I kinda forgot he was talking about Anthony. This is because I grew up listening to Anthony sing and talk. I definitely don’t regret buying this.

Historia
Set during the Depression in the depleted farmlands surrounding Augusta, Georgia, Tobacco Road was first published in 1932. It is the story of the Lesters, a family of white sharecroppers so destitute that most of their creditors have given up on them. Debased by poverty to an elemental state of ignorance and selfishness, the Lesters are preoccupied by their hunger, sexual longings, and fear that they will one day descend to a lower rung on the social ladder than the black families who live near them.

If you are looking for a politically correct book, this is definitely not for you. Some of the reviews I have read treat this book like it was written yesterday. This book is pushing 100 years old and reads as such. Folks are quick to attack old books like this to prove that that are not a racist. Just shut up and enjoy this good ole classic!

This is the way the world ends: with a nanosecond of computer error in a Defense Department laboratory and a million casual contacts that form the links in a chain letter of death. And here is the bleak new world of the day after: a world stripped of its institutions and emptied of 99 percent of its people. A world in which a handful of panicky survivors choose sides - or are chosen.

I have always heard good things about this book and was excited to listen to it. To me wasn’t bad or good. Rather boring mostly. There were some interesting part. Soon as it started to finally peak my interest, the story quickly changed back to boring. Also I don’t believe the book aged well. No one in 1990 used the term “dig” anymore. In this post apocalyptic world only two people of color made it out of 10s of thousands of survivors and both were killed. But hey it’s the 70s I guess.
