The story is seen through the eyes of Uhtred, a dispossessed nobleman, who is captured as a child by the Danes and then raised by them so that, by the time the Northmen begin their assault on Wessex, Alfred's kingdom and the last territory in English hands, Uhtred almost thinks of himself as a Dane.

Wow! What fun! Enjoy!
Revisado: 11-21-22
It is such a joy to discover a series about a time in British history which I know very little about. Now i am beginning to do my own research and that is always an adventure. At this point it seems the author did a good job historically. But I really don’t know enough to be sure. The thing I am sure about is that this is a really engaging story! I hope you enjoy it as much as I am. Many books still to go!

What a story! There is nothing I can say without spoiling it for the reader. Just get a copy and read it. You, too will enjoy the tale! Perhaps like me will keep rolling it over in your mind.

Historia
The Sweet Potato Queens are back and bawdier than ever in Southern belle extraordinaire Jill Conner Browne’s ninth edition of the hysterical series. Having experienced pretty much ALL of the crappy parts of life, Browne feels it is her duty to render whatever assistance she can to her fellow sufferers - and she does so in her own inimitable fashion.
Her father taught her there are very few situations in life that we really and truly cannot change, and it is up to us to figure out how to either make fun OUT of them - or make fun OF them.

Great entertainment salted with nuggets of wisdom

I was looking for some mindless entertainment and laugh out loud humor. After 2 years of Covid craziness and mass hypnosis this audio book was balm to the soul! I recommend it! It is deeper than it looks!

How do our thoughts and emotions affect our health? Are our bodies and minds distinct from one another, or do they function together as parts of an interconnected system? Neuroscientist Candace Pert provides startling and decisive answers to these and other challenging questions that scientists and philosophers have pondered for centuries. She explains the scientific basis of popular wisdom and phenomena like "gut feelings" and makes comprehensible recent discoveries in cancer and AIDS research.

Revisado: 05-17-16
Love Candace! It was such fun to hear her voice since she was the reader! I miss her. And the world will never be the same.
However there should be an audible version of the entire book. Every wording hatbox was important. Now I must go read the physical book again, because I miss the parts left out of the Audible book.

Historia
On July 22, 2009, a special meeting was held with 24 leading scientists at the National Institutes of Health to discuss early findings that a newly discovered retrovirus was linked to chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS), prostate cancer, lymphoma, and eventually neurodevelopmental disorders in children. When Dr. Judy Mikovits finished her presentation the room was silent for a moment, then one of the scientists said, "Oh my God!" The resulting investigation would be like no other in science.

So Dry, it crackles! But vitally important.
Revisado: 05-17-16
The story is almost unbelievable in its unfairness. But it points up the cronyism amount the scientific community and their donors as well as Big Pharma.
If only this book could describe the riveting story without repeating over and over again, the technical terms, the confusing names of viruses, drugs, cells and macrophages!
Everyone should hear this story, however the details should be an addendum at the end of the book.

If only everyone would read this book, there would be a lot more happy, healthy people. Today so many look to doctors to "fix" them, when in truth we all have the power to heal ourselves if we would make the effort. Granted, the changes recommended here are pretty drastic for most people.

But in the inevitable condition of aging and death, the goals of medicine seem too frequently to run counter to the interest of the human spirit.

This subject is often skipped over. No one wants to talk about end of life. But we must. Decide what you want and be very careful to find Doctors who agree with your choices. Do want quality of life or quantity? We must all think about this deeply.
