Unique perspective. Unnecessarily foul language.
Revisado: 09-21-24
His podcast borders on unlistenable due to his use of course/foul language. I know he has the ability to convey his thoughts and opinions without resorting to off-putting family-hostile verbiage, as he has done it for years. Too bad because his perspective is unique among talk show personalities,

Interesting story. Good characters. Character vocal differentiation could be improved between main characters. Good twists and turns.

Historia
Geary believed in the Alliance. Even when he uncovered overwhelming evidence that the highest echelons of the government and fleet command were involved in secret programs and prison camps, he believed it was worth saving. He believed his duty was to see that justice was served even though some factions feared that revealing the truth would cause the Alliance to crumble. But after narrowly surviving two assassination attempts when he brings evidence of the misdeeds to the capital star system, Geary realizes that some want to get rid of him.

Worth the 1 year and 3 months wait
Revisado: 06-27-21
It has been one year and three months since the last audible release of a Jack Campbell authored book. Yes, I've had many good and great audible listens since then, but Jack Campbell's storytelling, characters, and the universes is he's created are always looked for with great fondness and anticipation.
As far as this book is concerned, a great addition to the legacy of Black Jack. A little bit more foreshadowing than I would like, but not enough to detract from the excellence of this work.
I have a personal message for the author:

Historia
The world of Dematr had been locked unchanging for centuries by the Great Guilds, most people living in a world of oil lamps, crossbows, and horse cavalry, the Mechanics reserving to themselves the technology for steam locomotives, rifles, and far-talkers while the Mages treated all others as if they were nothing - until Master Mechanic Mari, dragon slayer and pirate queen, and Master of Mages Alain raised the army of the new day to free their world.

Worth every penny
Revisado: 02-24-15
What did you love best about The Hidden Masters of Marandur?
The characters, setting, and storyline are all pretty compelling. The growth of the characters is delightful to watch unfold, especially as Alain rediscovers his humanity;.
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Hidden Masters of Marandur?
The night Alain and Mari slept together without sleeping together. I love the restraint Jack Campbell is showing on the topic of sex. It makes the relationship between the two protagonists seem so much more tender and innocent and keeps the book accessible to children of all ages.
What about MacLeod Andrews’s performance did you like?
MacLeod Andrew is a star narrator. I will look for more books using his services. I can't see any studio wasting his talent on mediocre works.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I was somewhat disappointed by the misunderstanding between Alain and Mari concerning who she was. It felt contrived, but did not detract from the overall story.
Any additional comments?
I have ALL of Jack Campbell's (John Henry's) audiobooks. I like his writing style, characters, settings, and storylines. I only wish he were 10 people so one of him could write about the Lost Fleet, and other could write about the Lost Stars, and another could write some more JAG in space, and another could write about the Stark War, and the others could think of new places to take me.
